Where can we see some Ghazels (Deer look like, not sure if I spelled it correctly) We saw just one during last week drive near Al Faqaa.

Hi Vijay, Al Faquaa to Lisailli is the best place but deeper into the desert than we went.

I actually saw quite a few last week as lead but sadly, I scare them off before the convoy can get a good look & see them. There were also 2 foxes on the hunt but no doubt you missed them too.

๐Ÿ˜• he he We did see one in the very beginning, I remember Yohan saying on Radio that some were there on the left, when I checked, couldn’t find any. Lets try our luck next time. :thanks: :drive:

There are a number of Gazelles ( Arabic ุงู„ุบุฒุงู„/ Ghazaal) in Al Faq’aa, Al Lisaii’ly, Margham and even in Al Aweer.
The best place to watch the Gazelles, however, is near Hameem in Liwa, where one can see them in herds of hundreds of animals.
The Gazelles are being raised here under a protected environment in a massive conservation effort, by the Abu Dhabi Government.
Abu Dhabi actually takes its name from Dhabi which is a synonym for Gazelle.
This Gazelle is a very delicate animal that survives on little or no water and hence we should absolutely avoid driving towards or going near the animals, which may cause them stress.
We can, of course, watch them from afar…maybe with some binoculars.
What we need to understand is that the desert is a very delicate ecosystem and the gazelles as well as all other birds and animals are strictly protected by Law and there are very severe penalties for chasing or hunting any wildlife.

Ohh yes i saw about 6-7 of them but it seemed like they were running for their lives, as far away as they could from us. They are very docile animals and get scared away easily but I’ve seen a lot more during our night drives compared to the day time drives; all in Faqaa.

    Sorry Guys,
I have some issue with my car and one of the engine oil seals is leaking so I will have to bail out of this drive. ๐Ÿ™
There is no issue, however, as Sanjay Mathews has very kindly agreed to lead the drive in my absence.
    Marshall Sanjay please co-ordinate.

    GPS : N24ยฐ 45.633 E55ยฐ 06.554

    Have a good one.
