Safe Distances and Overtaking

At the beginning of November, I was struck by another car whilst i was stationary. The car’s owner believed that he could go around me whilst on a steep incline. Ultimately this failed and the Jeep crashed into me.

This error of judgement has cost me over 1500 dhs in taxis. 400 dhs for a pick up truck and 50 dhs to clear a blow out that I suffered due to the incident. The biggest cost to me has being without a car for 3 weeks, meaning I have been leaving for work earlier and getting home later.

I appreciate that accident happen and all that, but I urge all members to ensure that they follow a safe distance from the car in front and that if overtaking they have the room and skill to do so safely. Actions have consequences and whilst his insurance has paid for the damages, it still leaves a bag taste in the mouth as the ‘accident’ was clearly avoidable.

    Rant over…..
