    The 2014 Gulf News Fun Drive is to be held on 10th of January 2014.
    This year this much anticipated event will be different as the action will be centered within the Northern Emirates, with the drive starting from the Umm Al Quwain Motorplex and ending at a Camp in Umm Al Quwain after a loop of approximately 200 kms.

    There will be a number of Dubai Offroaders volunteering as Marshals & other officials during the Fun Drive and we will have a Dubai offroader convoy within the Gulf News Fun Drive, as we have been doing for the last so many years.
    The advertisement for the Fun Drive will appear in the last/ 3rd week of December ‘2013 in the Gulf News and since this is an eagerly anticipated and much looked forward to event for a lot of people, it is expected to be fully sold out within the first few hours itself, as usual.
    Please keep your eyes open for the advertisement in the Gulf News, to get the registration completed at the earliest to avoid any disappointment later.

    Is this going to be in the mountains, wadi’s and sand or just sand?

    We love the sand…better than wadis or mountains…do we not?
    The fun drive is almost always in sand unless we have Hatta or Fujairah on the route.

    That’s good news, as mountain driving is not for me and I would like to take part as have never done so.

    Its been the Jeep Jamboree for me before.

    Cant we get a block booking for our forum members with GN ? They did it last year for some other 4×4 forums.

    This is an excellent idea and an option that is open to all groups and it is something that I had tried to do some 4-5 years back.
    The only problem is that we need to have all the confirmations at least a week before the actual booking commences and in my last experience the members did not/ could not decide till the actual date…or even beyond it!!!
    We can re-introduce this initiative from the next Fun Drive, if required.

    Update on Saturday. Registrations closed and GN accepting application for waiting list. I am also on waiting list. Doesn’t know the chances.
