The group was split into three convoys … I found myself in the convoy lead by Ashok with Mathews and Thanseer as sweep.
This was my first drive behind Ashok… and what an excellent ride it was :thanks: I was fortunate to be second in the convoy and had direct sight of the artist at work. Ashok’s smooth , brisk strokes on the desert canvas were a pleasure to watch and follow :ymapplause: … Our drive from Nazwa to Pink Rock took just over two hours but with all the excitement felt like a few minutes.:thanks: to Ashok for organising and executing an extremely fulfilling drive.
:thanks: to Thanseer for the support and guidance during my ‘hiccup’
:thanks: to Kash , Viber , Sami , Bahar … and you fellow offroaders for the marvellous companySee you in the sand next weekend !!!
Well, another day, another desert ride with great company and an exceptional support team with Kumar at the helm and Razik as sweep. This goes to show you that HR people really do it better ๐
Kumar, your choice of route was truly wonderful, particularly enjoyed the last portion ๐
Wasi and Rakesh it was a pleasure driving with you today and look forward to future drives with you guys.
:thanks:

March 2, 2013 at 11:45 am #23986Hi Friends,
First of all my special thanks to Ashok for taking all the pain and initiatives of escorting and guiding me to the deflation point, I was late by few minutes and certainly was not sure if we would be able to make it.
A big thank you to you for this exciting fun filled drive, I was part of Ganesh convey, (the last wrangler) the route planned was excellent. (According to my 8 years old- we do not need to go Sega Republic and spend some much when we can get more than that for free :)) with such drives every weekend). Hats off to you all it was a memorable trip, this was my 4th trip in sand, first with DO I would rate this one as one of the best and certainly looking forward to the next one ( Ofcourse . my family too).
Have save & great working week friends, see you over the weekend.
Regards
Zafar
March 2, 2013 at 3:19 pm #23997At the outset a heartfelt thanks to Ashok ji , Thanseer sb B-) Paul & Sanjay Mathew and all fellow DOs… It was indeed a step further in my learning curve…
:thanks: :thanks: :ymhug:
It was indeed a wonderful :drive: & fun-filled afternoon and DO, I just love U ๐ก
Lets catch up for yet another drive, just for fun :yesss:
PS : Thanseer sb Sanjay & Paul : I have take a resolution that never ever will I be fighting gravity any more… ๐
Another successful learners drive, final days of beautiful offroad season and a huge convoy of more than 30 cars ๐ ๐ ๐
Almost everybody arrived before time at the meeting point except few first timers and one favorite late comer ๐ We lined up and waited for another couple of minutes to receive few more first timers. All cars started moving to the deflation point in a single convoy and I decided to wait at the meeting point to receive 2 more arriving first timers. Had to collect one Jeep Wrangler with little offroading as he overshoot the meeting point :)) :)) :)) Guys, we at DO take care our members right from the meeting point and are little flexible to accommodate possible late comers. But we need to respect our dear colleagues who took special efforts to reach the meeting point in time. Hence its a request to all to report at the meeting point atleast by the scheduled meeting time. Also it will help you to relax and enjoy the drive more and can avoid committing possible, critical mistakes due to last minute hush up.
Well, my fewbee++ convoy was quite small of 5 cars, ideal for a tricky drive ๐ Myself at lead, Wasi at second lead, followed by Amin, Rakesh and Razik at sweep. First leg of the drive was a testing session to decide the drive level ๐ and we had an awkward stuck and popout within the first 5 minutes. Recovered quickly and proceeded with the drive.
Thank you for the nice drive report Razik, nothing much for me to add :ymapplause: :ymapplause: :ymapplause: The drive was smooth flowing through the dunes and you all did a great job by very safely maneuvering :ymapplause: :ymapplause: :ymapplause: We could do the high dunes and bowls near Pink Rock very easily and as you guys were doing good, I aborted the original plan to reach the play area instead took another leap towards the bowl at pink rock and reached the play area through the back side to join the waiting newbee, fewbee convoys. Yes, we had some minor hiccups and repeated attempts on the way but everything managed at ease.
Return drive to Tawi Nazwa through dunes was quite nice and I was very happy to see you guys handling the ridges, very nice!!! :ymapplause: :ymapplause: :ymapplause: As everybody was quite charged up with a free flowing drive, I was demanded again to take dunes after reaching the exit tracks to Tawi. Since you all did a great job, I was happy to accept the request and took the short and tricky dunes route all the way till tarmac.
I am very happy to know that you all enjoyed the drive and had a quality time at sands ๐ Hope Wassi had a good time at second lead and realized the areas of improvement to go to next level ๐ Drive safe brother, that’s very important. You need not try to prove yourself to anybody [-X You are doing good, be open to learn more and you will be there very shortly :-BD. But for sure, you will not be permitted for the next DO drive if you still have an empty car trunk ๐
Amin a very cool customer in this business, having good prior experience in sands. Good job buddy :ymapplause:
Rakesh, you were driving good but you need to know your machine more. I am sure, you ride will perform much much better once you understand to handle it better. Be open to learn more and a very long way ahead bro :-BD
Razik, I like your driving style and you are a very good observer :-BD Certainly it will take you very long way, mate. Thanks for the excellent coordination and support at sweep :-BD You caught me! as you could figure out exactly what I was trying to do ๐ฎ As you clearly stated, my drive objective was to find virgin dunes in midst of 1000s of tracks as Pink Rock being a very common destination for all offroaders and I think we together succeeded in that mission ๐ Generally, people says Pink Rock is an easy route suitable only for newbies. Believe me, I like this route very much as it has the right mix of dunes where you can do different level drives in the range of newbie to advanced ๐ but its all upto how you make best use of it ๐
I really enjoyed the company of you all and look forward to drive many more with you guys.
Special thanks and appreciation to Mathews, Paul and DO Marshals – Thanseer, Ashok, Ganesh, Amjed and Robinson for staying back to support and successfully conducting the afternoon drive, after a tiring but interesting morning session ^:)^ ^:)^ ^:)^ :ymapplause: :ymapplause: :ymapplause:
Look forward to see you all again at sands, very soon. Till then drive safe and have good week ahead :-BD ๐ :drive:March 2, 2013 at 5:44 pm #24010Hello Guyz…i am finally here for a small drive report…guess i am late for the report too…. ๐ ๐
Well to start with all know that there were 3 different conveys, and i was put into Intermediate/Fewbee++ convey lead by another Desert King – G.Kumar ^:)^ ^:)^ ^:)^ , and i know the reason for me being into this convey… :thanks: to Mr.Rob / G.Kumar pre talks… ๐
As usual i was late this time too to catch up with the convey… ๐ Sorry to all for keeping wait..
As said by G.Kumar first few minutes were a testing sessions to all for the intermediate level..
At the very beginning i had a stuck while getting down from a ridge with a small bowl..which was taken out by GK, and for the photo cause our King Thanseer had come up and unexpectedly he too got stuck in an soft sand, which was again taken out by GK..
Well moving further i was trying to keep a track on with GK our lead and in one fine inclination i had to fight against the gravity to catch up the track which lead to a pop out… :(( :(( :(( and for fixing the same i got support from GK / Amin / Rakesh as i was not fully not equipped with off road kit..Sorry G.Kumar i will make sure before next drive i will be fully equipped with all standard accessories.
Apart from my experience i think all did well – Amin / Rakesh / Razik(as sweep in charge).I again state to all my seniors that i will be fully equipped with standard off road kit before next drive and will be waiting for drive with GK / Dada / Ashok / Thanseer with the support of Rob..
To say about G.Kumar lead i just got one word for his professionalism/driving skills – AWESOME….there are 2 Desert Kings in DO ^:)^ ^:)^ ^:)^ .
And i am going to make sure to join u guyz drives even though if i am not invited with of course a fully equipped off road kit… :p:thanks: :thanks: :thanks: a lot to my off roaders Amin / Rakesh / Razik for the support and having patience for my gooo upsss..

Hey Wasi
Unfortunately I wasn’t able to be with you on Friday afternoon, but your post caught my eye …well bits of it did B-)
Having been with Marshall Kumar Friday morning however I wholeheartedly endorse your comment above ๐
Awesome is a very good adjective for Kumar’s driving/navigation skills ๐
๐ ….umm as to the rest of the stuff in the above, sounds to me like it’s all down to you brother ๐ฎ … ๐ meditate or something ….go to a place of inner calm and move forward from there my friend ๐
Hi Do ‘ s,
i missed this Drive on the 01mar. Was a bit late because of the Military Convoy passing.
Traffic was stopped for quite some time and since i was not early this added to my delay.Upon reaching there was a group of other offroaders who informed me that you guys left a long time back and
that i could join them. I did my drive with them, but there was no comparison between the level of Professionalism.Unfortunately they put a sticker of their group on my Car :(. I will definitely be on time for next time.
You guys had a lot of fun.
Will join this week again.
