Is there any chance to get a flag with the DO logo from the group?? If possible, who can i collect it from during the friday drive?

    February 17, 2014 at 11:40 am #29080

    Hi Duli,

I have stickers if you remind me, but not flags sorry. You can ask Hamza for the JPEG and get them printed however.

Hi David, you can get yr 1k out of the way in a single weekend visit to Muscat, a worthwhile cultrual thing to do anyway,if you go via Al Ain and Jebel Akhdar at 2100 mts stop for lunch and continue to Muscat for supper, returning next day or a day later…. :yesss: that’s your ‘run in’ period.

I didn’t think that was still necessary these days ๐Ÿ˜• with the modern Pentastar engine, just an oil change?

Anyway I digress, for a list of offroad gear go here http://www.dubaioffroadlive.local/forums/viewtopic.php?f=16&p=28024#p28024

I can’t speak for all the Marshall’s as our gear varies and has been built up over a period of time and a personal selection. However below list is a good start point.

Personally I carry the following all the time, with additions for overnight exploration trips. Its a constantly evolving equation, I upgrade as I find more efficient or more compact solutions

Hi David, this is definitely not needed. I have the new Jeep and took it from the showroom to the desert no issues particularly as you will be on the newbie drive. Just try to get a walkie talkie and a flag before the drive and all will be well.

Thanks very much Brian, the list is very much appreciated. I bought a few items over the weekend but more the smaller ones such as first aid kit and spade etc. Will be going to Dragonmart one night this week to get a walkie talkie and a compressor. Had a look at Ace over the weekend for the ropes and shackles etc and will end up getting them from there I would expect.

Where would I be able to buy a flag?

Hi Duncan, I was rather sceptical myself but they said they I couldn’t go above 120km per hour or take the car off road until the car has had its 1,000km service or the warranty would be void. I am at 700km already so will book in a service on Saturday and then go on the trip next weekend. Gives me a bit of time to get all my final bits together.

These people at the showrooms dont even know what they say at times. When I was planning to buy a Jeep, the sales guy had mentioned to me “You can take this car offroad straight from the showroom with no tensions of Warranty but just make sure that you do your services on time” ๐Ÿ˜€

Finally, I didnt get the jeep. :))

But then again better to be safe than sorry with the warranty part with these guys.

Hope to drive with you soon.
