2) KhalilMarch 30, 2012 at 9:08 am #16468Guys, it is very important to understand that we have only marshal on this drive who is confirmed for sure. Your safety is our first priority. However if Khalil feels, he can take as many cars as he wants!
Sorry mahan, I need to keep the convoy at 6 cars … If someone cancels I will contact you for sure…
For the integrity of the principle, we should not make exceptions although I am pretty confident of your driving skills.
Next week we’ll have another one …
No offense buddy…

And here I come Khalil.. ๐
Guys, before I start telling u the entire story, first let me thank our lead marshal Khalil… :ymapplause: :ymapplause: :ymapplause:We all (Khalil, myself, Krishnan, Ashok & Robinson) gathered at the meeting point before time and were waiting if Imtishan comes, but he couldnt make it…So we left for the drive 40 kms away from the meeting point. The area was opposite to the Al Faqa…At the defaltion point, Khalil briefed us about the drive…and then we started…It was fun to see the lead marshal searching for the way at the initial stage itself…but ofcourse as Khalil said..there were some new farms and tents which he was not aware of….but as u say Marshals know the desert much more than the camels do ๐ and we started off….the drive was ABSOLUTELY wonderful and challenging….To my experience this was the most challenging drive i have done ever….but being such a small convoy of 5 cars, the momentum was awesome…
Now comes the hiccups…..Krishnan had a pop out soon, and we managed to change the tyre….some new techniques given by me which turned out to be fruitful ๐ ๐ ๐ :)…and then we followed the way Khalil directed us….Khalil was followed by Krishnan, then myself, Rob and Ashok as the sweep….The high and soft dunes were really challenging and we managed to clear them quite easliy and reached upto a point where we took some photographs (will follow in the gallery)…..After that point when we started again….I became the culprit and was not able to climb a dune….with Ashok & Krishnan’s guidance i did manage to clear it but then… ๐ฎ my tyre got popped out….and to add salt to the wound…one more tyre got fully deflated….we had to spend some more time in rectifying the issues…thanks to the entire gang to help me out…this was the first time with me…neways…then the marshal decided to move along and try to reach the road as fast as possible, as my tyres would deflate again….and :thanks: to Krishnan to guide me and encourage me to complete the drive without any more further problems…
We reached the road by 11.35, inflated the tyres and left for our respective home.
In all…the drive was just awesome, very challenging and Krishnan even mentioned at one point it was like an advanced drive…
Special :ymapplause: :ymapplause: :ymapplause: to all the drivers participated today and …..
^:)^ to the lead marshal Mr. Khalil….Thank you so much…
