quote Ganesh:A great day with a great experience…. Thank you Ahmed Sir for the plan and the great execution too…. It was indeed a very good drive along the wadis a bit different than sands…
Need to thank some people for their support and cooperation :
Kashmir Paaji – for your overall support and also specially to give us the idea of climbing the mountain which was the special part of our drive…
Sunder – For your awesome hospitality during lunch time providing me with a full course meal ๐
Dhaval – for the lovely “Dabelis”..
Each & evey member – to participate in the drive and for a lovely company…
I just need to make some important points for every person driving with Dubai Offroaders Club :
When we post any drive on any day, we expect the participants to register in our website “dubaioffroadlive.local”. We also have a facebook page where the drives are been announced. But please make a note that the facebook page is only a medium or channel to make you guys aware that we have a new drive posted in our website…
Please register for the drive in the website only and secondly DO NOT participate in the drive unless you have registered…We marshals take the total responsibility of the members registered for the drive ONLY…
Non-registered members will not be allowed to participate in the drive…A very important point to be noted by all the members is that if you want to quit the drive for any particular reason, you HAVE to inform the Lead marshal or any Marshal supporting the entire convoy… You CANNOT leave the convoy without informing anyone…
On Friday’s drive, we had Atif (Kashif’s brother) who joined us for the drive and left the convoy after lunch time without informing anyone…. Guys this is not done…. You can leave whenever you want but with the consent of the marshals….. Because it was Wadis you knew the route through which we came in, so you left with full confidence that you can make the way out….will you do that in sands ???? No right!!!!… So please follow the same rules everywhere…. This is total unprofessionalism and we WILL NOT accept this…..as you guys are our responsibility when it comes to any drives under the club’s banner….
Secondly even Denis (Jeep Cherokee) and Essa (Tahoe) left us towards the end when we almost finished the drive…. you guys were struggling due to your cars getting heated up and I was continuously following up with you if you are ok and towards the end when we were coming down from the mountain you guys vanished even without informing anyone…. Our responsibility is to get all the cars out as we came in….we were waiting for you guys spoiling other members valuable time and fun….Please understand this and follow the rules….We are here for your safety…
I hope this makes it very clear to all the participants who come for the drives and one thing is going to be very mandatory from now – NO ADMISSION WITHOUT REGISTRATION……
Guys we are here Just for Fun and please let us maintain this….We love to explore new areas and places so that you guys can have fun driving with us…
See you all for yet another thrill….Till then take care of yourself and your car and drive safe…
Cheers…
Dada, Very Well addressed ….. :ymapplause: :ymapplause: :ymapplause: :ymapplause: :ymapplause:
First of all :thanks: to Ahmed Bhai for taking us all on the top of UAE :D. Secondly, :thanks: to Ganesh and Ashok for their support in ensuring everyone was safe and had a good time. :-BD.
Special thanks to Kashmir Paaji ^:)^ for enquiring about the access to the top of the mountain and for Ahmed Bhai to turn around and lead us all there.
It was quite a sight from the top and I would request to have a lunch stop there on our next visit.

Ganesh, thanks for highlighting the above and it is everyone’s responsibility to ensure that every trip is successful and we all return safely back home.
Another point I would like to address is the convoy discipline. People were just randomly taking up any position after every halt. It became very confusing later on to follow your own position and certain members leaving without even informing anyone(let alone the Lead or the Sweeps) added to the chaos. Highly irresponsible [-X
Let’s have fun and be safe.
quote DVG:G’day All,Nice to catch up with some of the old faces as well as some new ones too.
Easy drive and wonderful opportunity to see some more of the stunning and harsh landscapes that we have here in the UAE. For anyone that enjoys these types of scenes, I strongly recommend the Khasab-Diba track, which is much the same as the Jebel Yabir drive, it is very easy to navigate and only the Diba border crossing will stop you exploring further. I have taken many visitors on this track and they all have said that it looks more spectacular that the Grand Canyon. Tip: Good time to go is during winter so you will see the farms that are perched high on the plateau covered in lush green wheat fields that are surrounded by the harsh Hajar mountain terrain.
Thanks to the Marshals for putting this drive on, these remind me of off-roading back in Australia. Nice one guys!
Hi David
I’ve been on the Khasab – Dibba track and it is also a nice outing if you enjoy the wadis. Another good track is the Wadi Bih one which has certain very challenging portions specially on the Oman side.
We need to move on to the rock crawling sessions, Where the sand bugs can get some cool breeze from the mountains. The drive was well n’ good, Thanks to Optimus Prime for taking us there, Mountains are looking good and there is more to conquer. Convoy was not allocated so no one was following anyone, Just drive until you find some one :(… Its a drive of lesson for many to be prepared for another adventure in future…

Hi Ganesh,
Just wanted to appologize and give some explanation, I see it was a misunderstanding …
Eisa was waiting with me in case any help would be needed, I didnt want to delay the whole group so I let all go up ahead and after I had a smoke break, my car was ok to climb further and we joined shortly the group at the top. But since our cars were at the end behind the curve, you must have probably not seen us. We took some good 30-45 mins for pics, and admiring the view, for which we thank all the organizers :thanks: :thanks: :thanks: it was really worth coming up there :drive:
We have noticed that some cars started moving down and we thought the drive is over, tried to use the radio but somehow none of our radios were having good signal… so we followed the cars till we reached the junction below the mountain, where we found another couple of cars. Waiting there for another 20-30 mins while other cars joined us and we didnt understand where are the marshals as the radios were still of no use, probably due to the height, we heard from someone saying that you were helping someone fixing a tyre puncture and would leave as soon as done, so since it was already late we (4 cars – David, myself, Norbert and Eisa) decided to move home before it gets dark. Some others joined us, but I couldnt see who exactly due to the dust ๐I hope this will not create a negative image, it was really a misunderstanding, I’ve been a very disciplined driver so far and will do my best to sustain that for sure :ymhug:
Thanks again for the great drive and hope to see you soon in the sand/rocks again :drive:
Hey Denis, thanks for your message…..the only issue was that none of us got your message that u r planning to leave…. When we have a total convoy of 30+ cars it’s our responsibility to get everyone out safely….that’s why I was bit concerned abt your leaving with couple of cars without informing us….I was quite surprised as u r not the one who will go without us knowing…that’s why I was worried and was waiting for u guys for some time to come back and join us…
Everyone should a make a point of noting down the marshals contact numbers, so that in case the radio signals are weak, you can contact them via phone…..
Hope you enjoyed the drive and just remember to please inform the marshals before you decide to move out anytime….take care buddy
Ganesh
What you said is right, you go in together and you come out together. This is how you become part of being a convoy. I would like to apologize if Atif did this. I will speak to him and I am surprised normally we have so much fun with you guys we want more and not leave early.
We do take our participation seriously and we will act the part will not happen again
Kash

He mentioned that the convoy would turn left for the wadi and if I want I can take a right and take the same path back to the road.
I agree with Ganesh’s concern as taking off is not the right thing to do without proper confirmation from the marshals
Sorry Ganesh it wont happen again …
Btw I still need to learn to get around on the forum as I am totally newbie
