15.Thanks all for a great drive. The start initially was rather slow with quite a few stucks in the soft sand. This kept Gerry and Ashok quite busy behind.
Chris, welcome to the club and the sands. Barring the few stucks, I think you drove fairly well for a complete new bee. A few more drives will be a confidence booster for you.
Tushar, your driving line in the lead today was perfect. Simple yet complex on occasions, easy yet challenging. :thanks:
Ali, thanks for overseeing the convoy and your valuable tips from time to time.
See you guys soon.

shabashSattu – you again made your mark. This is the best trip report i ever seen ๐ :ymapplause:
Under the magnificent guidance of Satwinder we had a blast during this drive. If you notice a green shine in the desert since yesterday it’s probably due to my engine coolant that has decided that life outside my car is much better. Got stuck once but an easy pull was enough to set me free again and continue my coolant leaking venture across the sand. On the last drive I noticed that putting the automatic in 1st gear makes a hell of a difference, knowledge I used on this drive to my benefit. Furthermore I experimented with the airco by shutting it down and opening the windows… et voila… increase in power results in smooth climb of dunes! I now wonder what would happen if I deflate my tires?!? Just kidding guys!!
Hi All
Sathwinder has been modest in his posting about this trip and any one reading will have no idea of how tough it could have been.
My experience with this group, and having done all sorts of drives i would say that this drives qualifies to be named as an ADVANCED DRIVE and most tricky one. All know that following Sathwinder is not an easy task and he made it clear that this is meant to be fast paced drive.
As sathwinder put it, i do not recall a convoy reaching the Iftar Bowl in record time that too from the backside.
Although there were starting troubles with Firoz which he came out of it fast with the lead marshalls help, and then the lead getting in to a real FIX and trying to retrieve him i got stuck. Tyn had problem with his coolant but then he did all experiment with his toy and ricardo and tyn truly enjoyed. Other than this minor stucks there was no stopping the convoy and we did all big dunes and reached back in time and in tact.
Sachin also had his turn to try his hand on the wheels and enjoyed the drive and had a chance to take some snaps which will be posted soon.
Good job done by Humayun at the sweep.

June 2, 2012 at 1:10 pm #17239From the Trip reports one can make out you people had a fantastic drive filled with fun. Tushar now you have a competitor for the trip report… ๐ Sattu I like your trip report – Berliner format – like new Gulf News.. =)) =)) =))
Thank you Satwinder baji for accomodating me ๐
Hope I didn’t spoil the fun ๐
That was :drive: of thh lifetime :thanks: :thanks:
Thanks Ali bhai for letting me drive with the big boys :ymhug:
Krishnan ji and Humayon….you two are really inspirational :ymapplause:
Thanks Tyn and Ricardo for the nice company… :yesss:
Over all a big thank to our Dubai Offroader Family :thanks: :thanks:
Sattu,
Thanks for the excellent drive and the route. It was really fun and a challenge to follow wrangler.
Firoz,
I got to know little bit of approach, angle and techiques after making may be 30 to 35 drives. But i must admit and say that with just couple of drives on, you are driving :drive: very well. Its not easy to follow a wrangler on Intermediate drives. Though there was initial hiccups from yourside you came out of it very well as Krishnanji explained earlier and followed the tracks without any problems except for few refusals which is not an issue. it is good going brother and keep it up… :drive: :o) :ymapplause: :ymapplause: :ymapplause:
Following Satwinder is a indeed challenge ๐ but the convoy took the challenge, concentrate and performed extremely well under the harsh conditions. The path was full of deep bowls and nasty ridges as well as high dunes. Special mention to the drivers in heavy cars… great performance. Lot of fun and indeed a pleasure to be led by Satwinder.
