In this course, you’ll discover tried-and-true practices created by our experienced marshals through decades of trial and error. We’ll guide you through the recommended equipment for various off-roading and recovery scenarios. As well as learn about the essential positions for a recovery vehicle and understand potential hazards to steer clear of when navigating sandy terrains
To start off the course, the instructor will be introducing you to the different off-roading equipment recommended by our experienced marshals. You will be taught whether to use a winch, a kinetic rope, or a static one if the need arises, along with some tips and tricks on what to use when you find yourself in a pinch. A significant part of the session involves exploring common recovery scenarios in sandy terrain as well. For this session, you will gain an understanding of essential off-roading equipment and recovery techniques, setting you up as a capable off-road enthusiast, ready to tackle any situation for a safe and enjoyable off-road experience.
Session two is all about hands-on learning, applying the knowledge from the first session to real-life scenarios. The instructor will create simulated recovery situations, giving you a chance to actively practise and reinforce your understanding. This practical experience not only enforces your knowledge of recovery techniques but also prepares you for the different challenges that you may face in off-road environments. This session will focus deeply on building your confidence towards handling any recovery situation, whether you have to help a member of your convoy or be on the other end of the recovery scenario.
The last leg of the course prepares you for unexpected situations during off-road adventures. This session covers the proper response to emergency situations, ensuring you understand how to address issues like mechanical breakdowns or navigation problems effectively. The instructor will guide you through different off-roading challenges and teach you how to adapt to each possible scenario. You’ll learn how to improvise in the absence of standard tools, teaching you to create tools from available resources. By the end of session three, you’ll emerge as a more crafty off-road enthusiast, one that is prepared to handle any uncertainty in their off-roading journey.
