Brain what kind of mods are u looking for, then can guide to the best with good pricing!
quote Amjed:Brian what kind of mods are u looking for, then can guide to the best with good pricing!Hi Amjed, ๐ I’ve a wish list as long as my arm ๐ but first comes the control of the vehicle by the driver ๐
No mods this side of the heat in any case, as in very short 6 weeks I have to go back to work! To date I’ve fitted a bash plate and changed the Bump stops, Shibu did that for me plus some internal bits such like compressor fixing.
In September I’m considering fitting more resistant shocks to take out some of the bounce and maybe control arms and or trailing arms to help the articulation in more challenging situations
I’m hoping to get to Liwa again later in the year but this time with DO. The last trip was a great disappointment due to totally inept organisation, anyway given the FJ has a limited range, I get about 5.6kmsplt, I’m investigating either a second tank, expensive but out of the way, or a roof rack and jerry cans, cheaper but slightly self defeating in that with the roof rack I’ll consume more, plus it’s noisy on the black top. The 3rd option of carrying the cans in the car is also an option but I’ve never really seen work successfully without some odour being present in the cab. I guess there are all sorts of combinations: like taking the spare wheel inside and getting a rack for say 2/3 cans made up for the back in it’s place.
Nice to have’s like a winch : heavy where you don’t need the weight, expensive but useful for self and other rescue …maybe. Extra lighting in the form of a front mounted LED light bar useful to have outside of sport driving like late arrival at campsites etc, I’m not into changing the front bumper for a steel one like Fida’s beast, as that’s even more weight, I quite like what Geraldpinto’s done with his winch mount. Shibu tells me he took his winch off because of the weight issue!
Any recommendations based upon your experience are invited and very very welcome ๐

Brain , i would suggest go stock vehicle as possible you can and yes you can go for the external jerry cans and Shibu can do wonders on FJ mods, as i know him personally, about extra lights yes if you are doing night drives & camping in desert but not required, winch yes recommended but not necessary, think of the extra weight on the front side of FJ. suspension yes i wud recommend go for it & get something reliable as Kings or Fox if you can afford.
rest all is the drivers :drive: skill not the machine, instead of spending on all the mods but suggest to drive as much as you can , it will enhance ur driving skills & lots of things to learn on every drive u do, get stuck & try self recovering with the magic button in ur FJ. :p
I have spent a lot, so much experienced in spending on mods. Humble recommendation is not to spend unnecessary on things which are not required, know ur vehicle capabilities & URS too.
Take care, drive safe & have fun!quote Amjed:all is the drivers :drive: skill not the machine, instead of spending on all the mods but suggest to drive as much as you can , it will enhance ur driving skills & lots of things to learn on every drive u do, get stuck & try self recovering with the magic button in ur FJ. :pVow, that’s a very sensible statement from an experienced offroader :-BD ๐ :ymapplause:

I think we are saying the same thing, I have indeed deliberately ‘stuck’ myself in my lonesome trips to PR, and used the formidable FJ’s on board tools. I’m in love with the vehicle, very compact bit of kit but like a boat or a set of ski’s direction-less without a driver, but with a capable driver the freedom of the oceans , the sands or the mountains is yours ………..that’s my goal Amjed the freedom of choice. It’s wonderful out there my friend, thank you for being part of my understanding…….it’s a gift ๐Prakash this post is inappropriate please do the decent thing and remove it. It has been reported as such and may well be removed by the web master.
Individual DO members have a good relationship with DAW as they do with a number of 4×4 specialist in the UAE, DO does not promote one over another and the forums are not sales zones, They are there for members to discuss the pro’s and con’s of all types of equipment related to our passion
