The Garmin 276C was indeed the ultimate offroading GPS but the new Montana 600/650 series are equally good too…at least functionally. It all probably boils down to familiarity probably and I too am a die hard fan of the 276C though I have tried the Montana.

Ahmads right there amithluthra…The 650 has all the functionality, good power range, touch screen, widely available ๐
while 276c has been the best for what we do, followed by Montana. However, if you decide to buy Montana, do have a look at the specs of the Monterra, which is an upgrade of over Montana. https://buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/on-the-trail/handhelds/monterra-/prod113522.html
I am not sure, whether Monterra has arrived in our market, but looking at the specs, it’s interesting with Android compatibility, 6 GB internal memory (against 3 in Montana) and 8MP (against 5 in Montana) camera. some minor fishing related features of Montana have been sacrificed, but i guess these are insignificant for most offroaders, except probably Brian ๐ .
Hi guys thanks for your advice and I gig speak to Ahmed bhai who did give me some good advice. Did get my hands on a used 276c but I guess I some how don’t seem to like it probably bcuz I’m used to the touch screen Putin on the phone and this just seems a little old school. Anyways need to try it off-road or might just try and swap it with a Montana if anyone’s interested.
