HI There
I am new to the sand, and for the moment I am enjoying it.
I have done a few rides and noticed the TC light coming on frequently on the panel, I have tried to research the use of TC in soft sand and found mixed views on several forums, some say pull the ABS fuse!
What do you experts do?

Firstly it depends on you’re car. My car has traction control and stability control. With traction control on i get stuck in the sand in less than 10 seconds, so for my car i SWITCH OFF traction control and leave stability control on.
I will switch it off on this Friday’s drive and see the difference, hope fully I will not loose traction altogether! I cant switch off the Electronic Stability Control, there are no buttons to control it, but probably there will be fuse and I can turn ESC off by pulling it, do you recommend that ESC should be off too?
I am driving with it all switched off on my Jeep. If you leave any of it on, your car’s stability/traction control system will keep trying to compensate for the lack of traction. These systems are only meant for when you are on road (except perhaps for the more advanced systems found on Land Rovers or similar 4×4’s).
There is no button on my car to switch off the Electronic Stability control, I think I will have to pull the fuse and live with beeps and lights in the cabin while driving in the desert, I think I will first switch off TC and check if that is any better, then try the fuse
AnonymousMarch 11, 2014 at 1:44 pm #29366With my ford f150 I have the traction control and the advance stability control.
If I just press the button once it switches off the traction but if I hold the button for about 7 seconds it turns both off.
Try this in ur tahoe if it works. ๐

It works the same way in my Jeep.
March 11, 2014 at 5:28 pm #29369The whole objective of offroad driving is to be able to control the car yourself without any gizmos playing any role. I switch both traction & stability control off when I drive offroad.
