    Good news.

The vehicle is fine. Are you ready for my drive is the question?

Its normally advisable to take a newbie/fewbie drive when you get a new vehicle. That’s always my advice. Same goes for any modification work that you might do in the future that effects handling. I abide by this rule every time I do something new.

Maybe best to take it for a spin in the PM and support Ahmad for your first outing.

The call is of course up to you but think about the rest of the convoy also.

Better Late than Never – got bit busy with some work.so could not do a brief on the drive
First of All I would like to rename the drive from “ Fewbee+ Morning Drive” to the “Envy Drive on High Dunes” ..LOL
Envy was towards No one…but the Majestic Dunes’ height on the way from Shuwaib to Iftaar Bowl..so we ensured we drove on top and stand on top to say we are taller..
Drive Started as per the plan…Nonetheless there were couple of people missing on time from the registration list..so that made the Convoy size to 6 including the lead and Sweep..that was more than cool…’coz it made the convoy short and sturdy..
To all those who didn’t turn Up..You missed a great drive of the season…Not to worry better luck next time…
Sandy & Jassim fell sick on the eve of the drive day and have notified me that they could not make to the drive…Trust you guys are back in shape by now and are ready for the next one..
Plasbo – was near to meeting point by 7:30..and unfortunately..he got an emergency call from office to report to office due to some major system failure at office…he informed self and had to detour to office to report at the earliest..

Drive started as Duncan on the Lead position, Tomy as the second lead, Afro,Imran,Walter and followed by self as Sweep.
There was no warm up..but a straight UP to the Dune in the Quarry area..covering each and every Dune Ridge and Bowl…we ventured in to the wilderness of the sand, sand and sand..

Why I mentioned this as the Envy Drive..was..as Duncan was certainly not very happy about the height and have decided to ensure all the highest ridges will be sized down after we cross over..And certainly we all have given a shave for them free of cost by reducing its size at least by couple of meter or so…Nice clean up for the dunes on a weekend that too absolutely free of cost..

We drove over Al Owaidha, Sony Erricson and couple of other Huge dunes in that area…also we didn’t forget to measure the depth of those huge bowls by sinking down and going up on the slopes…and made sure that the bowls edges are reshaped in to a more curvy one…(All of us were curve lovers.. ) by driving down on the ridges of those bowls and dunes before we crossed it..as it seemed that Duncan was not very happy about that edgy bowls…and we all the drivers have done our best part to support the Lead Marshal in doing so..ensured those edges are no more there before we left..but made them nicely Curvy..

One of our friend among the team (imran’s friend )had some motion sickness..and it was obvious and cannot blaim..coz anyone who have never been on a roller coaster for 3+ hours continuously can encounter the same…we had given couple of breaks for him to relax and recover..but didn’t help much even after having some medication..so the call was to take the convoy to a safe area near tarmac where theres a trail for Imran to Drive out…

The next piece of the cake was tasting the Super bowl and all other bowls in that area…you name it as we didn’t get time to think of the names as everyone was kind of intoxicated on a psychedelic trip with the pace of the drive and enjoying it thoroughly to the fullest…as if we all were in a trans..

    The highlights of the drive…
    1First 1 hour was fewbee++,2nd hour Was FewBee+++,3rd Hour was Fewbee++++..

    And the last 1 hour… many more + ..LOL… 😀

Everyone drove excellent and contributed their part to keep the convoy in pace and shape.
So Sweep had nothing to do…other than just drive and enjoy the roller coaster.. 😀
Fantastic Drive with a great Lead and a bunch of great offroaders…looking forward to many more…
    Drive safe…Have Fun…
See you all soon In Sha Allah

What a great day out with a fantastic convoy.

For those who could not make it, hopefully you get to enjoy the route in the near future.

I was the last person to arrive at the meeting point, mainly because I couldn’t figure out how to get to the exact location from the road lol!.

Once everyone was ready and deflated Duncan gave a quick briefing and we all set off hard and fast.

And as per Asharaf’s report the route got better and better as the day progressed.
True to his word Duncan upped the level after each break to a point where I was probably at limits of my experience and had to take alternative routes a couple of times. (Note to self: need to improve at ridge riding).

There was very little chatter on the walkie talkies as no one really had any major issues. No Pop-outs, No Major recoveries, No unsafe moments :).
Just goes to show how good the rest of the convoy was and their capabilities.
Thanks again for the great day out and your patience when i had a couple second attempts ;).

Question for the team, I currently have standard highway tyres (very soft sidewalls) on my car and find that steering is a bit floaty and hard to read in the sand (when deflated).
Would changing tyres to something with stronger sidewalls help get better steering feedback and ultimately more control?.
I find that the car can’t hold itself up on when slide sloping and quickly slides down. Same goes for riding the ridges, as soon as it is slightly off center on top of the ridge it will slide down the slope (this is usually due to not getting enough feedback on the steering and hence not enough time to correct the driving path).

Anyways,, till next time,, take care and see you all again insha-allah..

highway tyres are among the best for sand. The softer the better. Hard sidewall tyre will not allow deflated tyre to get more surface contact with sand, hence it will sink and might increase the probability of getting stuck which is worse if you’re on the ridge 🙂
What you have described above is called GRAVITY and you can’t fight it… unless your car is full with Helium 🙂
This happens to all, not only you, and mastering control will increase your level :yesss:
