I just got a Suzuki Grand Vitara 2009 Model 2 doors, currently it has a stock suspension and tyres which are 225/65 r17. I would like to upgrade the suspensions & the tyres and I need you expert advice on the same, what do you suggest I should do? any other upgrades that you would recommend?
if you really want to modify anything, start by getting 15 or 16 inch tyres and rims, if they fit on the brake drums.
new size would be 225/75/15 or 235/75/15 or 225/70/16 or 245/65/16 whichever of these available
other than that, Humayun said it right. Time will show you if anything else required.By the way, which engine does it have?

make sure to keep the overall tyre diameter within OEM specs, otherwise u might end up facing drive train, suspension, steering, power and fuel economy issues.
if u do a quick search in the technical articles and reviews section of the forum, u will come across many useful discussions to shed some light on that topic.
however, as a word of advice, heavier and more aggressive tyres will not necessarily work better for lighter vehicles in desert driving…http://www.tyresizecalculator.com/
