Al Wagan to E65, Endurance Drive
drive type:
newbie (3+ drives) / fewbie / inter. Depending on marshal/member registrations.
drive terrain:
huge starfish formations, big dunes and smaller technical dunes with flat land sabkhas in between.DAY 1
meeting point:
al faqaa adnoc station on (E66)

meeting time:
thursday 1 december 7:30 am
last petrol station before desert:
at al wagan (23° 37.987’N 55° 34.039’E)
desert drive start:
at al wagan around 9:30 am (23° 36.482’N 55° 27.685’E)
camping:
end of day one we rendezvous for camping at a point close to road, ( 23° 38.427’N 54° 59.359’E) TBC
apprx distance to be covered: 70+ kmsDAY 2
desert drive start:
friday 2 december, we leave camp at around 8:30 ~ 9:00 am, those who wish to leave us can head back to abu dahbi via nearby gatch road. ( 23° 39.400’N 54° 58.949’E)
desert drive end:
destination will be adnoc petrol station on E65 refuel and head back to dubai at around 5:00 pm (23° 39.019’N 54° 24.090’E)
apprx distance to be covered: 70+ kmsNOTE:
extra fuel for all is a must as there will be no refueling points until E65.
A minimum of 20L should suffice. A FUEL INSPECTION WILL BE CARRIED OUT BY MARSHALS AT MEETING POINT!-PLEASE BE THERE ON TIME!
-A FULL TANK OF FUEL ALONG WITH AN EXTRA 20L JERRY CAN IS A MUST!
-CARRY ENOUGH FOOD AND BEVERAGE FOR 2 DAYS AND ONE NIGHT
-CARRY ALL NECESSARY CAMPING GEAR AND EQUIPMENT ALONG WITH SOME WARM CLOTHING AS TEMPERATURES WILL DROP AT NIGHT. PLS BRING SOME FIREWOOD ALONG
-IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT YOU CARRY A COMPATIBLE RADIO TUNED TO DO FREQUENCIES FOUND HERE (RADIO FREQUENCIES) PLEASE READ YOUR OWNERS MANUAL AND GET ACQUAINTED WITH THE VARIOUS FUNCTIONS OF THE DEVICE AND MOST IMPORTANTLY HOW TO MANUALLY INPUT A FREQUENCY!! ANYONE WITHOUT A PROPERLY CONFIGURED RADIO, WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO JOIN THE DRIVE, FOR SAFETY REASONS! AND PLS MAKE SURE TO EITHER CARRY AN EXTRA BATTERY PACK OR A CAR CHARGER FOR YOUR RADIOS
-DO MARSHALS RESERVE THE RIGHT TO DENY PARTICIPATION OF ANY ILL-EQUIPPED OR UNSUITABLE VEHICLE!Checklist:
a) Keep your emergency contact info at vehicle dashboard.
b) Carry air compressor with you and ensure it’s in working condition.
c) Ensure your 4×4 vehicle is in perfect condition and with enough fuel.
d) Ensure your spare tire is in good working order.
e) Carry all necessary off-road gear / recovery equipment in good working condition.
f) Carry enough water / refreshments / re-hydration drinks for self & co-passenger(s).
Trip sounds awesome. Joe, I need to store fuel on the outside of my Xterra, probably the roof. I have heard you can build custom storage solutions ?

indeed i can… but unfortunately i wouldnt be able to offer anything now, given the time frame until the drive….
however we could discuss over the coming weekend and might sort something out.
for now i recommend u strap down the jerrycan (properly sealed) tightly on the roof rack, hoping u do have it on ur xterra.
otherwise u can secure it upright in ur boot and make sure to first wrap it with several garbage bags and seal them tightly to avoid getting any fumes into the cabin.
I am keen to join that trip Joe.. i have one big tank installed of +150 liters… i will meet u at Adnoc station as it’s like 45 min from my home..
@joe.zeinoun on the second day will there be a petrol station nearby to refuel before continuing the drive? If not then I think we need to carry more than 20L.
yes Ankit, ive mentioned that in the post, that there will be no refueling stations until end of day 2 and a minimum of 20L extra jerrycan is a must for all!
however i will be carrying 30L since i have a relatively small tank on the paj…
whoever can carry more than 20L pls do so, it can always come in handy for someone in need…
but overall i think we should be fine since there will be a gatch road to follow for day 2 just in case…
I will be there with all my 160 litres of fuel and love..!
Bought a 20L Jerry can today 😀 . Planning to get an additional 10L can. What do you say fellow Jeepers will it be enough or should I get 2x20L?
just keep in mind guys that total offroad distance covered will be well over 160kms
and each of u know by now how much ur 4×4 consumes petrol in the sand, so pls plan accordingly. extra petrol will never go to waste, better be safe than sorry!
@Ankit – I reckon 20l should do the job but I will get 2×20, I don’t want surprises:). My only problem is that I will need to keep it in the boot….hope I can get rid of the smell:).

PierreYou should be O.K. Pierre, Newbies with 3 or 4 drives can manage. First timers might not be too comfortable as that area is a bit tricky with very soft sand. We usually do Starfish Dunes Fewbies ++, but we are hoping everyone will enjoy it and have some fun, and we will manage a newbies track to the camping spot.
