Drive Start: 0600 Friday morning

Duration: 2 days, 1 night with overnight camping
Drive Route: Wadi Bani Awf, Wadi Sahtan, Snake Gorge, & The Chains
Drive Terrain: Wadis, rocks, graded tracks, tarmac, and perhaps a little bit of everything else too
This trip will take us through the majestic Hajar Mountains via Wadis Bani Awf and Sahtan. As we cross mountain tops and valleys we will have breath-taking views as we drive along cliff edges. Our first stop with be The Chains hike of Wadi Hawasinah. This is not a long hike but a very refreshing one through steep mountain walls and narrow gorges filled with deep pools to swim and jump. We will climb the historic chains to reach even more pools and rocks.
We will camp near a sloping face of Jebal Shams under the clear, star-filled sky.
On Saturday we will canyon through the Snake Gorge jumping, swimming, and abseiling our way through the canyon. It will take us about 4-5 hours to move all of us through the one-way watery, canyon hike.
This trip is not for the faint of heart but you donโt need to be a seasoned rock climber either. You need to have good sense of courage and adventure.
Mandatory requirements for the canyoning are:
1. Helmet
2. Life jacket/bouncy aid
3. Gloves
4. Water shoes
5. Harness for abseiling (if you do not have one please speak to me and we can arrange something)The ropes for the abseils will be provided. It is also good to have a dry bag to be able to carry food, drinks, keys, cameras, etc through the canyons.
More detailed information will be disseminated on a closed chat of interested participants.
As we will be crossing into Oman, you will need your passport and be able to get a visa upon arrival at the border. If you have any concerns about being able to get the visa upon arrival you can visit the Omani Consulate in Dubai to get one issued beforehand. You will need Omani car insurance for the trip. The cost to exit UAE is AED 35/pp and the cost to enter Oman is AED 50/pp. These fees are paid directly to the respective border authorities.
Please let me know of your interest to join the trip either on this event post or by WhatsApp (+971501326319). I will add you to the closed chat. Meeting point location will be shared later with confirmed participants.
I look forward to seeing you in the wadis and on the mountains

Dear Matt and Ajay, thank you for a great adventure and incredible experience on this trip, also to Gabby for showing us the way :thanks: . We thoroughly enjoyed the Wadi hike, swimming, rock climbing and the beach camping. Unfortunately we missed the last days hike but seriously doubt I would have made it with my limping :)) . Marius couldn’t stop talking on the way back about how much fun he had. Hope to join you guys soon on the next trip. Johan and Marius.
