Then I’m in.Yes correct even first timers can join this drive. But don’t forget to register for the drive by clicking green thumbs up button below the drive details.
Before I start on the review of the fewbie drive I have to say it was great to meet Hamza Ahmed, someone that I’ve only chatted to through whatsapp, without him this club wouldn’t work, he puts hours/days/weeks/years in behind the scenes programming and maintaining the clubs webpage making sure that the Marshalls can post drives that you can sign up for and we can all have fun. Serious big thanks from me and everyone In the club.
It was also nice to see Zakariya back in action who supported my convoy along with Benoit (Akawel) as sweepers.
I led the Fewbie Convoy with neil_FJ at 2nd lead. We starting from Faqa’a and headed east running parallel to the border fence. We made our way across the dunes trying to avoid the plants. After some zigzagging we hit some nice easy rolling dunes and the pace picked up. We then turned left and followed the fence towards Nizwa. Then the track disappeared into a side slope that forced us away from the fence so we headed back into the dunes on a tight technical cross country section that would lead us to what I call the Superbowl Run, We never made it to Superbowl but did experience some massive dunes, bowls and side-slopes that make up part of that route. Conscientious of light and time we then headed back towards the Dubai/Sharjah fence through the tightest technical dunes that I have ever encountered, there were a few second attempts and rescues in this area, but we eventually made it to the fence and managed to get to the inflation point of Nizwa at 7pm.
Hope you all enjoyed as much as I did and improved your skills. As I said before thanks to Zakariya and Benoit for sweeping and Neil as second lead. I hope to see you all again soon.

Thank you Simon, it was a pleasure to meet you too. It’s amazing to see how the club has grown and the spirit of the marshals, rangers, deputies and the members.
I hope everyone enjoyed the drive. We too encountered some difficulties in the dunes near the superbowl but happy to see everyone made it and was a learning drive, not only for the newcomers but for the experienced folk too!
