Liwa revisit January 28th & 29th ‘2011.

We will have a repeat of the National Day expedition to Liwa area during the last weekend of January ‘2011.
We will leave from Dubai on the evening of Thursday the 27th Of January ‘2011 & spend the night in Liwa Rest House.
The actual drive will commence on 28th Jan. morning from Meza’ira & will camp overnight at a campsite near Moreeb Hill, resuming the Drive to Hameem on the morning of 29th Jan. we expect to be back in Dubai by late evening of 29th of Jan. ‘2011.
Liwa is an oasis area in the Abu Dhabi emirate of the United Arab Emirates. It sits right on the edge of the Rub Al Khali (empty quarter), the largest sand desert in the world (ie. there is more sand in this desert than any other).
A number of small towns and villages make up the Liwa area. Farms back right up against towering dunes hundreds of meters high. The sand varies in color from golden to red and changes rapidly during sunrise, sunset, and the specific area.
The highways to and from the city of Abu Dhabi and Dubai, which are about 2.5 & 3.5 hours away, respectively, are in excellent condition.

THIS DRIVE IS ONLY FOR EXPERIENCED DRIVERS & YOU MAY PLEASE REGISTER FOR THE DRIVE BUT THIS WILL STRICTLY BE AN INVITATION ONLY DRIVE AND THE SELECTED CANDIDATES WILL BE INVITED BY PHONE/ SMS & APPRAISED ON THE MEETING POINT, THE DURATION & OTHER REQUIREMENTS.

There will be certain spaces for co-drivers & passengers who may not drive but can join, this is on a first come first serve basis depending upon the availability of spaces in the participating cars.

This is a unique oppurtunity to experience the majestic beauty of the Rub Al Khali up close & personal.

We will need to carry sufficient water & food & one should have sufficient fuel either in the tanks or in jerry cans to give your car a range of about 500ks.

THERE IS NO FUEL OR PROVISIONS AVAILABLE AFTER WE LEAVE MEZA’IRA TILL THE TIME WE EXIT THE DESERT AT HAMEEM.
CARS WITH SINGLE TANKS WILL HAVE TO CARRY EXTRA FUEL IN JERRY CANS TO BE ABLE TO MAKE THE FULL DESERT TRIP.
