07 December 2012 – Sweihan Express
Meeting Time: 1300Hrs
Meeting Place: Mosque Parking Area – Behind ADNOC Petrol Station – Sweihan N24°28.161′ E55°20.561′Drive Starts: 1315Hrs
Drive Ends: 1730HrsDrive Type: Intermediate
Terrain: DunesThis drive will be fast paced, because the name itself says that. We will explore Sweihan area with soft sand, very sharp dunes, long slopes and unexpected ditches. I will try to keep the drive at an easy level, but some part of this terrain demands more and you can’t resist the enticement.
The meeting point is around 135kms + from Dubai and hence you need to plan departure from Dubai with enough lead time to arrive at the Meeting Point on time. For Jum’a prayer, there is a mosque next to ADNOC where we can perform Jum’a prayer.
On a special note, while on the drive be stick with convoy discipline and stay on lead’s track as much as you can to avoid unnecessary stuck and recovery delays.
Most welcome for Senior Members and Marshalls.
Please carry enough water, rehydration drinks and food stuff for yourself and your passengers. Make sure your car is in good condition. Your car must be equipped with front and rear towing point and with the necessary Offroad Gear.
Please read the following before you register:
Equipments that one needs to carry for offroading
Kindly register for the drive by clicking ‘Register for trip’ Button below this post.

An Absolute fast pace drive…… :drive:
Gathered at the meeting point at 1 pm and waited for the advance drive convoy to reach there and proceeded towards the deflation point by 1.15 pm…Salimbhai was shifted to Tushar’s newbee convoy and Sultan and Aemi coudnt make it for the drive…
So the convoy was Thanseer as the lead followed by Rob as the second car with Kashmir Paaji as the third followed by Khalil, myself and the Tiger at the end….There was no convoy number set but once the drive started the discipline was maintained throughout the drive…
Theres no need to comment on anyone’s driving skills as I had the privilege to drive with the most experienced drivers and marshals of our Dubai Offroaders Group….
Except for one small stuck of Kashmirji at the crest which was sorted out in no time….we did not have any other stucks….
Thanseer made us experience everything that one would love to drive in the desert….each and every tall dune, slides, driving straight on top of the crest…..everything u can think of….
Then we joined Tushar’s team at one place and headed towards Adnoc petrol pump to inflate and return back home….
Thank you Thanseer SIR for the awesome experience and thrill….I hope i have been upto the mark as per your confidence in me to include me in the advance drive list…. :yesss:
Thanks Kumar for the support as the last car in the convoy and Khalil & Kashmir paaji at the center….Rob..u were as accurate as always Sir… :ymapplause: :ymapplause: :ymapplause:
See you all again for the next drive…. Pictures are been posted on the facebook page… 🙂
Cheers

Our expectations were a little high being part of advanced drive convoy and the area being Sweihan which is widely known as miniature Liwa. Recent heavy rains spoiled our fun as the sand was hard, not enough to challenge the skills of the advanced convoy 🙁 Therefore the drive was very fast paced and relatively easy. However it was really a very good feeling to enjoy the non stop drive, especially for my family, with the wonderful company of very skilled team – Rob, Ganesh, Khalil, Kashmirji and SIR :ymblushing:
Thank you all for the great drive :thanks:
