4.Fantastic drive with so nice company. We have been 12 cars in total. Had some challenging dune cresting due to very soft sand. But all in all it was a very nice experience. Weather couldn’t be better. Pictures will follow. Thank you guys it was really pleasure meeting you today and hope that we can make it over again. Special thanks to every one and the Marshals ( Desert King and Khalil).
Merry Christmas and Kindest Regards.
December 24, 2011 at 1:15 pm #15043My special thanks to all of you for making such a great effort to make this drive successful. You people made all the difference in the club. We successfully completed an intermediate level drive with Newbies without any major issues. I couldnโt have done it without the help of Brian, in the middle of the convoy, and Khalil at sweep. The coordination between sweep and lead was remarkable. You guys did a wonderful job. I sincerely appreciate both of you.
Now little bit about the drive;
All the participants reached at the meeting point before the time (I appreciate that). We waited until 0800hrs and started from the meeting point according to our schedule. We had total 12 cars in convoy and reached at deflation point around 0815hrs and started the drive at 0830hrs after a short brief about desert driving and convoy discipline (All the credits goes to Brian).
After measuring the ability of the participant at first stage I increased the difficulty level little bit. I appreciate Mr. Tanveer who is a very first timer in the desert with his LC, but done very well. Second stage also went through without any issues. So I thought this is the time to go for next stage, since we have enough time in our hand for sun set.
Beginning of the third stage, it was challenging for some of the Members but they performed well and managed to overcome it. Once we reached top of the Al Faya (Saddle Point), the expression on members face said everything. Some one walked down to this 300m slope to enjoy it. Once every body was down side of Faya, we had a little snacks and COLD TEA. After that we headed to the tarmac and we touched the tarmac at 1230hrs.
Over all it was a wonderful drive. I believe everybody enjoyed it. Hope to see you all for the next drive.
Thank you
๐ ๐ ๐December 24, 2011 at 2:48 pm #15044Great Job Thanseer, Khalil & Brian !!!
A big Bravo for the initiative and enthusiasm !!
:ymhug: :ymhug: :ymhug:Thanseer and Ghassan have summarized the drive very well. i must thank Thanseer’s courage for increasing the difficulty of the drive to make it more challenging for the newbies and fewbies… There is no better way to learn from ones and others mistakes. I must also thank all the drivers for there perseverence, it was amazing even from first timers. Brian did a very good job in helping to contain the convoy and provinding good guidance, Ghassan, our new joiner showed very good driving skills and his enthousiasm and sens of humour was remarkable. Ricardo gained a lot of confidence and his driving skills are improving drive after drive… All the others did very well as well. The aim is having fun as a group and I think everybody had fun today… Welcome to the new joiners and hope to see you in other drives … Cheers
Thanks a lot Thanseer fort he fantastic lead and Khalil for being ultra helpful and really fulfilling that Rescue Marshal status.
We had a blast of a time and this sets new framework for our newbie drives…. Started off nice and easy and then picked up the pace one the convoy completed the break in period. Towards the end of the drive everyone had a taste of an intermediate level drive and came out more capable offroaders.
Keep up the momentum guys (pun intended… ๐ )
All who came had a great time and Thanseer’s samosas and chai were a welcome reward on completing the drive.
Looking forward to the next one….
Merry Christmas to all.
