Wowww… what a fantastic afternoon to see…. Thank you all for making this event so special….. There were three segments of this event….
1. A thrilling afternoon drive….
2. Delicious Barbeque
3. A camping night to be remembered…..Loved to see everyone on time at the meeting point…….I had to reach there early to seperate the convoys as listed to save time….
It was an awesome scene to see all the TFT & CMT members except our dear winchman Rob…..Thank you guys to be available to support such a massive crowd….. :ymhug: :ymhug: :ymhug:
We started off the event with congratulating our two members of the week – David Gula and Amin by presenting them the DO mug as a token of appreciation by our Chairman and the founder of DO – Mr. Ahmed Parvez….
The breifing of the convoys were put on to the respective Lead and Sweep Marshals…..Out of the total 38 registrations, Matthews couldnt turnup due to illness, Sridhar and Wasi had some guests at their place…Also Sami was not seen….But nevertheless, 34 cars to launch in the silky soft dunes of Badayer area was a treat on its own….
Convoy 1 lead by Mr. Ahmad Parvez and sweep work done by Ashok…
Convoy 2 lead by Mr. Saif Khan and he had the best of Marshals for sweep – Gkumar and Khalil…
Convoy 3 lead by Mr. Thanseer and the sweep were myself and Amjed….Thanseer decided that we will march our convoy from Badayer and so we all lined up and started for a thrilling drive…..
The convoy was Jason, Iqsaan, Kashif, Baher, Gabriel, Denis and Himanshu…. The start itself was enough for everyone to have a feeling of how the drive is going to be….. “Up above the world so high…like a diamond in the sky” ๐ ๐ ๐ ….. The first track to reach the top of the dune one by one…..Leadership and experience always provides you something different….and thats what Thanseer provided the whole convoy…… Everyone was driving so beautifully that the lead was continously increasing the level bit by bit…. Jason must have had the day of his life following Thanseer as the second lead….catch me if you can :)) :)) :))
Iqsaan was very watchful and careful and did a fantastic job….. Kashif had his brother Atif taking the charge of the steering and was dancing around the dunes perfectly….
Baher was good with his short wheel Prado and was continously following the advice from the sweep marshals ๐ …Well done Baher…
Denis in his Jeep Cherokee with his shot gun Essa was good at all times except the same old fear of his own car’s performance….. The car got heated up once while fighting against climbing a tall dune, but was fine after that throughout the drive…..With the same car he got enough confidence to reach on top of Iftar bowl…….Great Job Denis
Gabriel and Himanshu proved their experience in this sport and were too good at the tail of the convoy…..
Jason had got stuck in a funny manner and was easily rescued and at one time I was inside a nice short bowl and came out of it with 3 attempts easily….
Once everyone reached on top of Iftar bowl, I had to stay back down to click a nice picture and then we left for our final destination The Ghost Town….. :ymdevil: :ymdevil: :ymdevil:
Thanseer had an entirely different route to reach Ghost Town….. and since he selected this route he was soon attacked by the Ghost and got sunk at one place….. :ymdevil:
When we reached our destination, we saw Saif team with Kumar and Khalil there already…. David Gula had some issues with his car in Mr. parvez’s convoy and had to reach the road ……We missed you David…. After some time Mr. Ahmad came with his convoy to the spot and immediately the bonfire and the BBQ equipments were set up for some very delicious stuff to taste…… Special thanks to Sanjay Matthews for all his efforts to prepare the BBQ marination but couldnt join us…. ๐
There was one set of people who had to leave as soon as the drive finished…so Ashok took the charge of guiding them to the road…..
Everyone at the BBQ sopt were enjoying their time chit chatting and sharing their experiences of today’s drive….
Around 8.30 – 9, Kumar, Ashok and some more members left the place……and then Mr.Ahmed, Thanseer, Saif and the last set of people who were not camping also went back…..
So, the third phase of the drive – Overnite Camping…. Myself, Gabriel, Hongbin and Max stayed back and we had a very nice time talking to each other about their country, investment opportunities, property prices and so on….. At 12.15 am we decided to call off and go to sleep….Gabriel put up his tent while all the others slept in their cars….
Now the strange thing of the Ghost Town……around 2.30 am we started hearing some strange sounds of an animal crying ๐ …. and it was actually scary ๐ฎ ๐ฎ ๐ฎ ….but nothing was seen…..and the night was finished somehow ๐ …..We woke up around 6am and myself and Hongbin started clearing the area, collected the garbage and I had to fill my petrol tank so threw the garbage bags in the bin at the petrol station…
Once everything was packed, exactly by 7.15am, as promised to our campers we left for our morning drive to Badayer….
We attacked all the tall dunes possible, visited Super Bowl and drove for an hour and more around the area and then touched badayer shops for inflating the tyres and then left back home….
Overall a fantastic day of offroading and the reason for the success of such a grand event was because of all our lovely DO members……
Thank you all for participating for the drive…. :ymhug: We all loved your company and I hope you all too enjoyed the same…. ๐
See you all for yet another exciting event coming up soon….. and see you all breaking today’s record in numbers….
Cheers

Greetings All,
A great Club event yesterday and despite some mechanical issues that had my monster complaining too much, it was an excellent drive. Following Mr. Ahmed Parvez in his FJC and watching him apply his skills swooping and diving through the dunes was awesome. He made it look effortless as he challenged some eye opening peaks and ridges along the way. Regretfully, but for safety sake, I chose to exit to the road before time and could not make it to the BBQ. I thank all drivers and passengers within our group for a great drive and most of all, I appreciate your collective assistance, patience as well as understanding when forced to head for an early exit to the road.
Loving the drives, learning everyday and having lots of fun. Thanks DO.

I have to say, this is the most interesting drive i have so far with DOs. Barbecue was nice, true feeling of a family!
First drive in the afternoon was good not in a sense of challenging but in a way that I got a few chances to test my vehicle using different combination of L and H, and gears. Thanks for Saif who led my convoy and kindly permitted me to play a bit while we were waiting rest to catch up. The most exciting drive was in the morning today with only four cars( guys, try to give another thought to decide whether to stay night over. You definitely missed something!!!). as Gamesh said, we visited many high but not forgetting small, but tricky and very soft dunes. It was a fatalistic morning drive in quiet desert, feeling the whole world is watching four of us swinging between dunes. Ganesh picked a very nice route that made us crest on some amazing dunes. The drive was fast and needed much more concentration and maneuvere, real bashing.
Thanks again for all marshals, particularly Ganesh.Yet another superb afternoon spent with my DO family…
Thanks Ganesh for organising this wonderful event and to all the members for making this a success ! :ymhug:Ganesh has pretty much covered everything in his detailed report … :thanks: … just thought I would add my 50cents worth …
I arrived at the meeting point at 2:40pm and was greeted by Baher, Hutong & Thom
Once again , the rest of the group slowly trickled in … chit chat , deflation and briefing and we were on our way…It seemed that Thanseer wanted to test the capabilities of the convoy and our first ‘assignment’ was to ascend a monster dune across from Big Red … the convoy did an excellent job and the difficulty level was set … we proceeded very swiftly from Area53 to Iftaar bowl on Thanseer’s rollercoaster through quicksand bowls and tricky dunes with ever increasing difficulty…. but every member was up to the challenge!!! … remarkably we had only one stuck (the second lead in a very technical area) and no pop-outs . After descending Iftaar bowl , the convoy (now pumped up on adrenaline) successfully ward off the ghosts lurking behind every dune to arrive at Ghost Town without an incident. B-) … unfortunately , I could not stay for the barbecue + camping … glad you guys had a wonderful time.
Any convoy moves at the pace of its weakest link … however this was not the case this Friday… THERE WAS NO WEAK LINK!!! ๐
It was truly amazing driving with individuals on my skill level (or better) and having the lead marshal select a route according to our collective capabilities …
:thanks: Jason , Kash,Asif,Atif , Baher , Gabriel , Himanshu & Justden for an incredible drive …
You guys were amazing!!! :ymapplause: :ymapplause: :ymapplause:
Once again , thanks to the marshals Thanseer , Ganesh & Amjed for ensuring our safety at all times .Indeed, it was an awesome evening with around 35 cars and almost all DO Marshals were in action, led by the Chairman himself :ymapplause: :ymapplause: :ymapplause:
Amazing drive reports from Dada ^:)^ ^:)^ ^:)^ and Iqsaan :ymapplause: :ymapplause: :ymapplause: along with the feedbacks of Davidoff, Hongbin, Himanshu, David and Mehboob summarizes the whole event and the fun we all had :-BD :-BD :-BD ๐ ๐ ๐
Khalil and Myself were assigned to support Lead Marshal Saif and his newbie convoy ๐ Ofcourse, it was not all an easy task to take first timers and newbies to Ghost Town as the terrain sometimes proves hard for even the experienced :-ss I should say, Lead Marshal Saif made the task look easy by carving an excellent safe track according to the skill level of convoy members. Great job buddy ^:)^ ^:)^ ^:)^ :ymapplause: :ymapplause: :ymapplause:
Since Khalil took charge to support the convoy at middle, I was relatively free at the far end of the convoy. But enjoyed that position as I got it after a long break and a little freedom to play around ๐ Now I can very well guess why our SIR in capital letters is always obstinate for this position.
@SIR:- you can expect one more claimant for your favorite position in coming drives =))Drive was relatively smooth with few hiccups and a perfect newbie drive at a tough terrain. We had few tricky recoveries including couple of winch recoveries and a popout. But we managed to reach Ghost Town first among the 3 convoys and just in time before dark. That was an amazing timing!!!! :ymapplause: :ymapplause: :ymapplause: Believe me, if it had got dark, the game would have been entirely different ๐
It was nice to see the Ghost Town completely filled up with DO cars….. ๐ Had nice BBQ session, good chit chat and finally I had to leave by around 8.30pm marking a good end for another successful offroading day :-BD. Good to know the Campers had a good drive as gift from Dada, the next day morning :-BD ๐ :ymapplause:
Imran was really good at second lead :-BD
Hongbin and Leo did a nice job apart from few minor stucks :ymapplause:
Beautiful King was readily available with full recovery kit for any support :-BD and also drove nicely :ymapplause:
I think the Jeepers – Norbert, Avinash, Thom, Max took the task little light and got few surprises ๐ but good and disciplined driving guys :ymapplause: Ericson with his Pajero caught hold of the game very quickly :-BD.
It was awesome to watch Shauna in full control of her monster Amarada, very good job :ymapplause: :ymapplause: :ymapplause:So many participants for the drive and till now only a very few casted their drive feedback ๐ :(( Come on… its your forum and you are most welcome to cast here your feedbacks :ymhug:
See you all very soon and look forward to drive many more with you :drive: :drive: :drive:
:drive: :drive: :drive:
I like to convey my sincere :thanks: to DO Founder, Officials and Marshals for giving an exciting and pleasurable :drive: ride in the desert. Thank you for keeping our drive SAFE and FUN. :ymparty: :ymparty: :ymparty: :ymparty: This was my First Desert Drive .. :ymhug: :ymhug: :ymhug: i love it..
we all (especially my daughter and son) really enjoyed ๐ ๐ ๐ the desert even though some newbie like me got crested in a hill. :)) :)) :)) :))DRIVE SAFE and JUST FOR FUN
:thanks: :thanks: :thanks:
