Drive Route: Picturesque Starfish, crescentic and parabolic Dunes, sand trails and long expedition type drives
Drive Terrain: Beautiful…PLEASE SWITCH ON YOUR RADIO AND TUNE IN TO CHANNEL 4 (462 637.5) AS SOON AS YOU REACH THE MEETING POINT.
We will have a tarmac drive of approx. 150kms. that will take us from the meeting point to the desert entrance point, which is near an ADNOC fuel station, We will fill fuel here and start a day long desert drive, until just before sunset which will bring us to our camping spot in the Dunes. We will camp here, have a BBQ & make merry till late. The camp will be wrapped up for a 9.00am departure in the morning for another long drive in the sands, with an exit on tarmac near another fuel station where we will inflate the tyres, refuel, refresh and head back home to arrive in Dubai by late evening on Saturday the 26th of March 2016.
– PLEASE BE THERE ON TIME!
– A FULL TANK OF FUEL IS A MUST, VEHICLES WITH SMALLER FUEL TANKS SHOULD CARRY AN EXTRA 20L PETROL
– CARRY PROVISIONS/ SNACKS AND WATER FOR 2 LUNCHES, 1 BREAKFAST AND 1 DINNER, LASTING OVER 2 DAYS
– CARRY SUITABLE CAMPING EQUIPMENT BEARING IN MIND THAT WE MAY HAVE SEVERE DAMPNESS DUE MIST/ FOG MAYBE EVEN RAIN IN THE NIGHT.
-IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT YOU CARRY A COMPATIBLE RADIO TUNED TO DO FREQUENCIES FOUND HERE (RADIO FREQUENCIES) PLEASE READ YOUR OWNERS MANUAL AND GET ACQUAINTED WITH THE VARIOUS FUNCTIONS OF THE DEVICE AND MOST IMPORTANTLY HOW TO MANUALLY INPUT A FREQUENCY!! ANYONE WITHOUT A PROPERLY CONFIGURED RADIO, WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO JOIN THE DRIVE, FOR SAFETY REASONS!Checklist:
a) Keep your emergency contact info at vehicle dashboard.
b) Carry air compressor with you and ensure it’s in working condition.
c) Ensure your 4×4 vehicle is in perfect condition, with a serviceable spare tyre and with enough fuel.
d) Compatible Radio is a must.
e) Carry all necessary off-road gear / recovery equipment in good working condition.
f) Carry enough water / refreshments / re-hydration drinks for self & co-passenger(s).
This is going to be a great trip and I do not want to miss it. I do have something already planned for that Friday so I am working hard to get out of it :YMPRAY: :YMPRAY:

to make things easier and more convenient for those who cant join for the 2 full days we have decided to introduce a second meeting point for day 2!
those who wish to either join us or leave us at 9:00am day 2 will have the liberty of doing so 🙂

Great news Joe. I do have a sailing race on Friday so cannot make the Friday drive. I will join you guys for Saturday. If your Friday night camp site ends up being close to the Saturday meeting point then I would join you guys Friday evening for the camp. Looking forward to it now!!

Nice, that looks like our exit gate from our last Wagan drive. Is that the same place (or thereabout). I will plan to meet you guys Friday evening. I should be there by 8 or 9 pm. I will just look out for a floating Nissan Patrol 🙁
Not that I am paying attention to the details, but just one small detail….you have the day and date for the second meeting point on day 2 as Friday the 25th…should be Saturday the 26th 😀
probably by now there are more than one floating patrol :))

as for camping spot, it should be somewhere near, most probably where we had the last break on the hill 🙂
