Trip Brief: Coffee with Roshan, Friday 23Jan09
The trip started off well with Shehzaad (with Roshanvi), Sahmed & Humsafar
arriving at Lahbab at 0630hrs where they were met by Vinu & Navadv. Roshanvi drove Vinu’s Xterra as part of Vinu’s training; this will be his last co-driver experience – next time Vinu drives !Shehzaad led the route from the Tawi Nizwa entry point to the Pink Rock exit. It was a simple, early morning, ‘enjoy the weather’ drive. There was some confusion at one point about what direction to continue in once having reached the Pink Rock exit.
Humsafar decided to exit early at Pink Rock exit due to family commitments, re-inflating using a compressor and heading off to Emirates Road.
We had our share of stucks and recoveries. The score was Vinu 3 and Sahmed 2. The recoveries were routine with little fanfare or complications. The only exception being a popout caused by towing Vinu off a dune when he got beached while side sloping.
Little did we know that the best was yet to come.
On the way back to Big Red, Shehzaad led an amazing drive with lots of challenging dunes, side sloping every dune he could and generally giving us fewbies a taste of what an intermediate drive is all about.
Next trip we intend to cover the same area to improve our side sloping skills.
