Guess who’s back in the desert folks !!! our own Roshan and Dinu. We will start our “feel-good” first trip on 31st Friday morning as a celebration to their health.
We will meet at Adnoc for Sharjah residents at 4:00 am
and will meet the Dubai residents at Lehbab Emirates Petrol Station by 4:45 am.Deflation will begin at Big Red base at 5:00 am and start off towards Big Red.
This is a casual and completely on-track fun drive to regain our confidence and get used to our vehicles again. This is also to avoid stucks and heat exposures.
Please be equipped with all your off-road tools and plenty of water and food.
Cheers
So please sign up and be a part of this drive.

– Ahmed Pervez and HamzaAll in All it was a nice trip. At last after 6 months of Desert I finally Saw IFTAR BOWL. but honestly speaking it was little disappointing, as I have heard a lot about it, but it doesnt seem anything like I imagined.
I reached the Lehbab at 4:45 and surprised that no one as there, I was scratching my head for being so early and hen I saw a 2 door Prado coming, It was Naveen and then one by one very body came except our heroes for whom the trip was arranged.
I occurs that Roshan has a got a call from office and has to attend the office on Friday and DInu just could not wake up in time to reach at meeting point,
All of the participants the agreed to go to Iftar Bowl via Area 53.
We started well quite confidently, but proved to be too much for participants with in 5 minuted first suick came from Sanly, then from Naveen, then stanly, stanly, Naveen, Vinu, Sanly, humsafar, Vinu hehehehehe
Despite the stuck it was a good drive, we wasted a lot of time in stucks,
Ahmed bhai lead the trip in his traditional way, safe driving finding the gaps like Tabdulker, and hitting over the dunes where necessary again like Tandulkar. I really love the way Ahmed bhai drives, His car moves so easily with out showing signs of any strain on engine,
In the middle I offered to lead, but Ahmed bhai was not in a mood of training session, because I do not have GPS and the Area was very tricky, However I was confident or may be over confident that I could lead, I respect Ahmed Bhai’s decision with out any single argument as he knows my capabilities in real terms.
From Iftar bowl we head straight to the tracks and the to inflation point, guys had breakfast and then left for homes.
A special thanks to Anil Bhai and Naved Bhai for keeping their eyes at back (of course not out backs, it is back of convoy). though some times we found them some where in between the convoy ๐
August 1, 2009 at 3:35 pm #11583Excellent report Ali.
I am glad you understood my concerns on not letting you lead,
I am, as it is watching you very closely & look forward to see your name in Red…quite soon…here! This is a tricky area, as it is…
Not many people are venturing there these days there, due to the high temperature & the soft sand,
I am sure the participants would have noticed the absence of any other tracks, except ours.Yes, I agree that most people had difficulties but, believe me…This is area 53…
I am actually pleased the way everybody drove…
we managed the distance & did some quite challenging terrain on the way!!!Yes i agree with Humzy. it was a special drive. havent felt so good after a drive in such a long time.
even though i guess i was contributing to most of the getting stuck. Not only the terrain but partly my mistake in not keeping enuf distance to Naveen’s vehicle in front then later on losing momentum and then gettting stuck. I realised that half way through the journey and then on the stucks got lesser.Ahmed bhai, you must also share the secret . how do you mange to climb dunes with out seeming much of an effort. Sometimes i barely see the tire treads behind your vehicle like you drive floating. ๐
Stanly Man and all newbies like me
jut one bit of advise from my very limited experience,
When ever u try to recover some one, first get around the stuck car, and try to guess the amount of jerk needed to get it out, this analysis involves may thing, like, angle of car how deep the tyres are buried, 2 or all 4 tyres are buried, is the belly resting on sand, are there small sand dams in front of tyres etc..
First try gently, and gradually increase the jerk, of course keeping in mind what is your position and angle of your car. because you don’t want to get your self stuck with the rope tense between the vehicles
On Friday drive when u pulled me, the jerk was so intense that I almost felt my front cross member gonna go with the rope nd there was a big rattling noise came beneath my car.
No pointing is intended just concern about your car and others safety.
Ahmed bhai, if I am right, please second my opinion
August 2, 2009 at 6:52 pm #11586It is just a matter of experience…
We will have a proper GPS session some time soon, so that we are all able to make the maximum use of our navigation systems.
Then one of the afternoons we could have a rescue & trouble shooting session.
Let me try & fix a date by consensus.
sorry for that humsafar. didnt realise that i had tugged the car so hard as you mentioned. maybe the noise was the plants brushing against your vehicle cuz you were leaning onto the plant on the slope and stuck.
i will analyse situation more next time before doing rescue.

I am glad you took the advise positiverly, generally people feel offensive if you try to give a bit of advice.
as I said, Stanly you are the Man. ๐
