Can you please point out to as in which fields can we improve? Please elaborate on your feedback and we will definately try to make the site better.
Thanks,
MeOffroaders Management.First, we could do with a custom header in the Gallery and the Forum… its just a matter of designing something in Photoshop and pointing to it from the Forum/Coppermine Gallery admin.
Same can be done for the footer…
Will give our site a customized look…
We can also reverse the forum entries, so the latest ones appear on the top instead of the bottom of the last page (can be easily executed from the admin)
How about having a common log in for Forum and Gallery (we can bridge the two from admin too)
Adding some flash animations, videos?
Why not redesign our logo and branding? Might come handy to brand our identity at a later stage…
I also feel the home page can be a custom html one with links that lead to forum and gallery scripts…. instead of using the default HP design that came with the script….
There are many skins available for Coppermine Gallery and PHBB scripts… lets keep changing the skins to give a new look every now and then….
If you give me admin access, I can help execute some of these ideas…and if consensus approves we can go live with them… Don’t worry, I have executed some of these ideas on my family site… so I know what I’m doing… won’t bugger up the script… Will also need FTP and MySQL passwords…
Have attached a header I was playing with… will design a couple of more and upload here… Please let me know which one you all like..
Regards
September 30, 2008 at 8:09 pm #7550^^ No offence uncle Naved but thats not what i had in mind. I respect and value all of your suggestions. You are watching the site now and have not seen what all this site has gone through in all this time. We do change our skins from time to time. I guessed the subsilver skin tricked you. We chose this skin because it is user friendly and very light (loads fast). I am working on a new feature through which you will be able to change to a different skin and we are gonna give the users about three skins to choose from. One of them will be lite which for the time being will be this one .. other one will also be lite but a little more complex and a little more image heavy and the third one will be dark for people who prefer dark skins. As for the bridge between the coppermine and PHPBB .. these are the latest versions of both of the applications and the bridge has not been coded yet by the coders and so it is not available for download. I am coding the bridge myself but that will take some time to test and stuff .. you will know since you have coded applications before .. you know how it works. I like your idea of the banners and a new logo .. and you are most welcome to put them up and we will have them up on the main site. The banner you made is really good. Faateh is incharge and the Admin of graphics .. he will be in touch with you on assistance for the graphics.
I have learnt the ropes gradually, so to say, as I have built this site up from scratch, that is the reason, I do not feel comfortable in handing over the Admin or FTP access to anyone .. i hope you understand.September 30, 2008 at 8:17 pm #7551I am totally in agreement Naved…these suggestions will surely improve the feel of the site.
The banner is really amazing…but our off roader has some leftist Neo Nazi tendencies??? :taunt:quote Hamza:^^ No offence uncle Naved but thats not what i had in mind. The coding and the frontend design is excellent. You’re right… it does take a lot of time and effort to reach here… Job well done… and keep up the good work…
My two-penny advise… is just that… advise… just wanted to let you know that you have backup and support as well as resources at your disposal which you could tap into whenever you need. I often feel guilty when I see people like Pervez, Zubair, Saad, Jessil and yourself working hard to keep this club in action and the rest of us just come, have fun and say goodbye. Just want to help and contribute in any way I can. Otherwise we might as well rename our club ‘DISCO DISCO… KHAO PIYO KHISKO…. LOL (just kidding ;-)….
On a serious note though… can I request you to increase my disk quota for the Coppermine Gallery so I can upload more pics on my user account… I think it is currently 1024 kb only….
Keep up the good work… :good:

Thanks a lot for the encouragement .. and i like designing the site .. you will know how addictive it can be. And yes .. i will increase your disk quota for the coppermine gallery right away.
Edit: Everyone’s space quota has been increased to 10240kb now. Enough for a lot of images
October 3, 2008 at 5:00 pm #7576You must have noticed the “Events Calendar” in the top menu. We now have a calendar which will list all our official MEO trips.
October 4, 2008 at 12:08 pm #7588quote WiLdCaT:The site sure looks good but good job with the Events Calendar, but why is it in Arabic ???Its in English for me. It might be your browser setting. It automatically picks up the language settings from your browser.
October 9, 2008 at 7:54 pm #7644^^ that is not a good idea….since most probs this forum runs on a shared server….
if this site was on a dedicated server then yes it would be possible to increase the picture size….however, i still wouldn’t advise on doing that….
October 11, 2008 at 7:22 am #7666quote navedhasan:Hamza, can you at least make the defualt size of Gallery pics bigger…?what do you mean by that?
Currently the pictures are being displayed with a width of approx. 400 pixels… although bigger pictures are uploaded… as a result, even though we have bigger pictures uploaded, we see them only as 400 pixels wide…. unless we click on the pictures once again to show the full size image…
From the admin panel of Coppermine Gallery, you can control the display size (width/height) of the thumbnails as well as the pictures… why not make the display width of the pictures to 1200 pixels….

That will take a lot of time to load everytime you try to go to a new picture using the scroll page. As Huzaifa would say, all of us dont have ADSL connections here. So i dont think its a good idea to do that. For those who want to see the bigger picture they can click again and see it .. for those who are just browsing through .. its better that the picture loads faster for them. However, i think i will increase the size of the thumbnails.

And Naved Uncle, can i please get a few banners? like 4 or 5. We will have random banners around the site. The dimensions should be 900x150px. The preffered colour scheme is shades of orange.
Thanks.
