Newbie/Fewbie Drive – 18-05-2012 โ Trip Report
Meeting Point: Maliha Road Petrol Pump Coordinates: 25.234356, 55.574089
Scheduled Trip Start Time: 4:30 PM Scheduled End Time: 6:00 PM
Actual Meet Time: 4:30 PM Actual End Time: 8:40 PMConvoy Strength: 13
Drive Lead: Ali / Convoy Monitoring: Krishnan
Rescue: Humayun / Sweep: GerryDrive Info:
All members who missed the sand, showed up at Maliha road, with our chief marshal Ali, agreeing to take the lead and supporting the drive. The drive turned out to be a real exercise in off road rescuing, which myself, Humayun and Krishnan will have learned valuable lessons from.
As always Ali started the drive with a very easy start, with feedback from us if we should ramp it up. With quite a few cars getting stuck, it was an overtime drive for my winch, which really made life a lot easier than if we had to tow everyone out with tow ropes.
I think everyone learned a great deal from this drive on how to approach dunes the right way and why momentum is essential in the sand! More importantly from the members faces we could see that they enjoyed the drive and the experience itself.
I must say that Firoz has improved his skills well. Looks like the sand bug has got to him!
It got quite late unfortunately (or fortunately) , which resulted in us taking tracks back to the road. We finally got to experience a night drive! We still had a few challenges crossing the final ridge in the dark, but Kudos to the members who despite getting stuck still went again for it without hesitating. Bravo!
All in all quite an experience, for all of us.:thanks: Thanks Ali !

Helping and driving with Great Marshal Ali Bhai and great and longtime offroaders Krishnanji, Geri, Humayon….for short period time, I felt like, I am also one among them… (I know, I’m no comparision to them…. :thanks: )
Very proud of being with you team…it was a fantastic drive…
And seeing the smile on the faces of the absolute newbies when they recover and driver further…then stuck, recover again…wow……it’s worth million dirhams ๐
Hi all
It was your call chief and no question of me not joining although my morning started with another fine drive where again i was only recovering most of the time.
The noon drive was just amazing and for the new bees it was as if they were driving in the clouds. But each one of them were so exited inspite of the stucks and popouts which every single one of them thanked you and am sure inspite of the temperature going up you will have to post more drives, Get prepared boss ๐ :-s :ymapplause:
Am happy to be part of the team to assist Ali. But should emphasize my appreciation to Humayun, Gerry and Firoz who were very helpful.
Gerry your confidence level must have gone up with your self retrieval and congrats to you and your co passenger who really was of great help and must have felt great himself.
Chief, the Important thing to note in your drives is that you are giving opportunities not only Humayun, Jerry and Firoz but you are creating more marshal materials out of the group and every drive gives them some thing new to learn as Gerry mentioned to me.
Firoz and Family : Hats off to you for your tremendous love for offroading which made you drive all the way twice to and from Abu Dhabi :ymapplause: :ymapplause:
Ali Bhai : With this positive attitude you keep i think this group will never be short of marshals at any time !!!
WELL DONE EVERY ONE AND THANK YOU CHEIF FOR THE TRUST YOU HAVE IN ME :thanks: :thanks: :thanks:
Cheers
KRISHNAN
Guys,
I would have to admit that it was an amazing drive and i really enjoyed it.
The team of offroading should be proud that whatever has been learned from the leaders was very effective as we did the transition with the new bies and helped them to drive along with us till we hit the tarmac to see their happy faces.
I have been requesting Ali for a night drive quite a long time after putting my fog lamps and unfortunately it was awesome to drive late evening and to test my lamps too. Thanks Ali for this opportunity..
Though it turned to be a night drive, the success without any hiccups is because of great lead of our chief marshall Ali with the support of our long time offroader Krishnan in sweep, Gerry’s sweep at the end of convoy with back up of winch, firoz’s support and myself.
Finally the result was happy faces of Aries Marine company thanking our Chief marshall and other members. It was great fun to help others and share the experience.
looking forward to many such drives in future..
