Sorry for that Rob. Guys, 20 registrations were set. Hence it just went on and on. Anyway, now the topic has been locked. No more registrations are allowed. Khalil will take care of the rest! ๐
We explored three different and beautiful areas near Alfaqa. Each with different terrains … the drive was fun, the whole convoy drove well :ymapplause: :ymapplause: :ymapplause: … with few challenges. Skills and focus were tested… :drive: :drive: :drive: :drive:
We all had fun ! Big tanks to Sam for joining the convoy and for all drivers for making such a drive very enjoyable.
We’ll do more of this in the future … Cheers

August 24, 2012 at 7:10 pm #18500Indeed a great drive, :thanks: khalil, must say everyone drove exceptionally well :ymapplause: :ymapplause: , looking fwd for the next week’s surprise ๐ฎ package ….and a big thank u to Sammy :ymhug: for helping us all.
A very different kind of a drive in my opinion. No large dunes but hundreds of small to medium steep technical ones to conquer. The white sands of Lisali made visibility a real issue. Had always heard that the colour of sand can play tricks on ones eyes but actually experienced it only yesterday. Very difficult to see clearly the tracks, ditches and crest lines. One really needed to be extra focused so as to make up for the visibility issue.
We had a few stucks and crestings which were overcome in micro minutes thanks to Sam’s guidance. I think every one drove very well specially considering the different terrain.
The real highlight of the drive would be the sighting of the Arabian Oryxs also know as the white oryx which are protected under the Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve.
Thanks Khalil for a great lead and Sam for your advice and sweep.
It was a very nice drive on beautiful dunes. For me, this was a very technical drive….maybe because I was trying to keep up with Khalil…. :drive: :drive: :drive:
Looks like with 3 drives in a day, it was a memorable day for the dubai offroaders! ๐

Absoulutly Thanseer, a very memorable day for all the participants of Marathon drive, it was great learning, technical and beat the heat drive.
Thanks Khalil for this great drive of impeccable planning and perfect execution. Drive was exactly as published: fast and technical, start/finish timing was observed, terrain type, …
I really enjoyed the emptiness of the place with no road tracks -only our owns. Beautiful area in summary and looking forward to many drives like this.
Special mention to the convoy as well. Despite some challenging ridges everybody negotiated the terrain to perfection -of course, we were all two stars at least!!!
Thanks kalil for organizing this wonderful drive.
Enjoyed everybit of it; cutting ridges and side sloping were awesome….except my last stuck on top of the ridge..
Look forward for more technical drives to learn and train\pratice tips and tricks..
Thanks sam, rob, ricard, zarir, jayesh, humayon and co passengers for the nice company,.
