If black color is that difficult, then can you go for the second choice? :-s
In that case, for sure you will lead and we will enjoy the drive ๐ :ymapplause:
Here comes the report of the FANTASTIC desert exploration morning drive …
The route was – Meeting point – Emarat Petrol Pump at Maliha Road..
Meeting Time – 6 am
Areas covered – Fossil Rock – Devil’s Fall – Camel Rock – Al Faya – Pink Rock – Big Red
Total Time of the drive – 5 hours…Firstly let me please take this pleasure in thanking our Lead Marshal – G Kumar for his excellent marshal skills and the lead for today’s drive…..we three – GKumar, myself and Ashok – met at the meeting point and then proceeded towards the deflation point – KHATAM….there was a small briefing about the drive as we have to follow the rules of our club….then the drive started at 6.45 am with G Kumar as the lead, myself in the middle and Ashok as the sweep….
We reached the Fossil Rock and the Devil’s Fall in 15 mins and then thru the marshals guidance cleared the fall very safely as the starting point of the fall was not looking that good….
then once we reached down we headed towards the Camel rock….reached the camel rock in another 20 minutes….relaxed for a while having our breakfast – Aloo parathas ๐
and then the convoy headed towards the Al Faya area….where we rechecked our tyre pressures and then proceeded for the Pink rock….
At the pink rock the best part was the pace and momentum we all had and I had never experienced this pace and the route which Kumar had led us today…..just awesome kumar :ymapplause: :ymapplause: :ymapplause:
After the pink rock…all three of us drove to the Big Red area where Kumar had a bad stuck up and pop out…we were trying to rescue him when we were approached by a desert safari guy….he was giving us his expert comments and advice to rescue Kumar’s car….. but I should tell you…..with all due respect to the Desert Safari Clubs…..but the quality of training we all get through all our Marshals in our Dubai Offroaders Club is just so awesome and perfect….we were able to rescue Kumar’s car within no time using our skills….and then rectified the pop out too…..though it was toooooooo hot (47 degrees)… :thanks: to Ashok for having chilled water in his car….and also the mat to have some shade while the pop out was rectified….
Other than that we didnt have any stuck-ups and the entire drive was in such a fantastic pace and momentum and were able to cover a large area and drive nearly 5 hours…..
We reached Tawi Nizwa shops at 11.30 am and then way back to our home…
:thanks: a ton Kumar for the awesome lead and I should also thank and congratulate the Club Marhals and Chiefs to put in their appropriate decision in promoting G Kumar as a Marshal….it was the first drive for me to follow Kumar and enjoyed it completely….This particular drive had everything in it….slides, steep fall, ridges….a perfect intermediate level drive…
I have uploded the pics in our facebook page….wl upload it here also very soon….
See you all for the next drive….
Cheers :drive:
@Ganesh, You had not left anything for me to add to your report regarding the drive :ymapplause: :ymapplause: :ymapplause: . Also thanks for your kind words :thanks:
Well the initial drive plan was from Al Faqa to Margham with 4 cars. Yesterday late night received the message from Sayed that unfortunately he is sick to attend the planned drive ๐ Then we were left with only 3 cars, which is not safe for the planned area and we changed the drive plan to a known terrain.
I really enjoyed the drive, excellent driving by Ganesh and Ashok with no hiccups which made the drive fast paced and gave me more room of comfort, at the lead :ymapplause: :-BD
Near big red, I had a very bad stuck which was one of the bad situations I faced in offroad. I was trying to cross a small dune with reasonably good pace. On checking the other side at the ridge, I felt itโs not safe for Pajero. Aborted the plan with a slight brake and wanted to drop down. Here I miscalculated the sand and power. The sand was so soft absorbing my car making it rest in an awkward position at the slope. As Ganesh correctly pointed out, the experience and techniques, we gained from our expert Marshals came to our rescue.
A professional desert safari driver joined our efforts with advices claiming to be a trained rescuer. Believe me, if we had accepted those advices, I would have gone home with a rolled over car. The burning sun forced us to take a chance to try his advices. We tried it carefully but the result was disaster. This attempt popped out both left side tires making the vehicle more unstable at the slope X( We ignored his advices and returned to our original plan. Ashokโs patrol was put into action to pull the car in reverse at the same angle. In couple of attempts, my car was out of the slope to a safe area :ymapplause:
Then it was the hard task to fix the popouts. It was hard because all metal pieces were damn hot to touch with bare hands – hydraulic jack, level, compressor, vehicle hood etc. ๐ฎ Still we managed to finish the job quickly and continued the drive.
Thank you guys once again for the excellent driving, great rescue job and wonderful company. See you all again, very soon in the sand. :thanks: :drive:
Thank you Kumar for your fantastic lead once again :thanks: :thanks:
Ganesh, as usual your report captured each and every moments of the trip; :thanks: :thanks:
As mentioned by Kumar and Ganesh, the drive was amazing and we really enjoyed at all level. ๐Looking forward more trips on the coming weeks. :drive: :drive:
quote Ricardo:Kumar, what about trying Al Faqa this weekend?Good morning Ricardo, how was your Oman trip? Hope you enjoyed the holidays ๐
Even I wanted to try Al Faqa’s soft & tricky dunes. But considering the tough terrain and extreme temperature, I feel it is not safe to attempt with a convoy of less than 4 to 5 cars. Jeep will be helpless to recover our elephants ๐ Need to have some strong LWB vehicles in the convoy. I cancelled last week’s drive plan for the same reason.
The lead and 1st car can get into bad situations very easily. Therefore we need to have good recovery options with us to make the drive enjoyable in that area. We once faced the said situation, when we attempted Al Faqa with a 3 car convoy. Lets wait for the interest of other members and will plan the drive accordingly :-BD
Hey Kumar, since yo did not have a full house for that drive, here you will have another chance to do it this coming Friday Morning.
1) Gerry
2) Ricardo
3) Humayun
4) RobinsonAsho and Ganesh…are you up for the challenge?
And I am pretty sure that Ashok and Ganesh also would like to join.
So….what about you make it a formal trip? Are you available?:thanks: :drive: ๐ ๐ ๐
