The new shape Pajero has a design flaw in the rear bumper. The face of the bumper is angled downward and open, thereby making it prone to snagging when pavement hopping or ploughing sand when dune bashing.
I have been looking for solutions and have found one as yet.
The new Safari LandCruisers have a rear bumper mod in the shape of a flat metal plate mounted under the bumper as additional reinforcement.
I have found a garage that can do the same for my car (08 Pajero LWB) for AED450-500.
If anyone is interested, let me know and we can try for a group discount.
I remember him saying between AED300-500 depending on whether front skid plate or tranny plate.
Also – need your opinion on alternative. Another guy (well reputed) has recommended I do entire rear skid plate instead of bumper plate only. AED1000.
Option 01
Safari LC garage, bumper metal plate only. AED450
His main business is modifying 4×4 (mostly LCs) for Safari. He has the part in stock, he will modify to fit Pajero (bolt-on only).Option 02
Other guy, alum rear skid plate, reinforced with cross bars. Custom fabrication. AED1000 min (+-10%).What do I really need?
(P.S. Am a weekend offroader, big red, tawi nizwa, camel & fossil rock type of terrain)
