anyone can help with that?Hi Akis, Welcome to the club and congrats on getting all of your gear sorted beforehand. Regarding your radio I would suggest Dragon Mart. There are a few shops in the electronics area. I believe shop number B-05 is one. I always get there by entering through the machinery & equipment door entrance and immediately after entering turn right down a little hallway and that dumps you out right at the shop. They sell Motorolas and Crony for about AED 200/250. Make sure you get a radio that has frequencies above 400 i.e. 450-474. They do have radios with frequencies between 100-200 and these will not work with us.
Here is a nice video Sasha put together on how to program the Motorola. If you have any issues with it I could help you on Friday.

There are a some other models and you can also speak to @badboy as he used to stock some for sale. I am not sure what his inventory levels are buy you could speak to him.
Hope this helps and see you on the sand!

anyone can help with that?Hi Akis, a compatible radio is a must so please ensure you have one in time for the drive. If this is your first time in the sands this is also probably not the best drive to come to for your first time. If this is the case I would suggest you come on the drive next weekend which will be a little easier going. Same applies to all first timers. Thanks for the understanding. :thanks:

anyone can help with that?Everyone across all groups get theirs from DragonMart. It’s usually a Motorolla that costs about 200-250. Make sure they program it for you with the different channels the offroad clubs use. If you haggle a bit (and you should) you could get a car charger with it for free- which is very useful since as newbies we tend to forget to charge them between drives 😀 )
Quick note to all members interesting on Joining the Drive.
The meeting point it at least an 75-90 mins drive from Dubai so please plan your travel and re-fueling stop accordingly……and as Marshal Duncan rightly said…….would not recommend it for first timers as the terrain is extremely challenging…..the route is pretty long
To the experienced DO members…..try not 2 miss this one…….these dunes are un-like most we usually visit……massive bowls…..high ridges and some surreal views 😮 😮 .
On a personal note gutted to be missing out :(( :((
@Saif Thanks for the valuable advice. Actually yesterday I was checking the nearest petrol station from the meeting point. 1st option was just after Al Faqa exit 24.691083,55.633650 which is before 86km from the meeting point. 2nd option is opposite to the meeting point 24.209721,55.517659. So my question is- Is option 2 easily accessible from meeting point or we should plan to refuel at option 1? Or maybe can suggest some other option. Reagrding the terrain I cheched in sattelite view and must admit the view is amazing =p~ . I have not driven on something like that :-ss
