quote DAVID:quote Iqsaan:The new trend of reporting individual driver’s performance is an excellent idea and provides us newbies with valuable insight … Hope this is here to stay
Its good, π So that they can improve the abilities, We have to concentrate on the weakness to strengthen it and to maintain it with positives..
π π π Appreciations in public are always appreciated and welcomed but an advice to improve in public will be accepted in same manner??? :-\ :-\ :-\ :-?? :-?? :-??
March 25, 2013 at 11:10 am #24927:thanks: :thanks: :thanks: Dada & Zarir for your feedbacks and comments.
Yes I agree with it and will make sure to put my aggressiveness in the right way.But the drive was awesome and yet another memorable one…
:thanks: to Dada, Saif, Zarir, and rest Do’s π
@ Tiger … point taken … However , we have all joined the club to improve our offroading skills or ,in my case, develop skills which I’ve never had… Naturally , the marshals have our best interests at heart and the constructive criticism is intended as a guide to improving our abilities … In my opinion , anyone taking offence to these comments may have joined the club for the wrong reasons.

quote zarir:My apologies if some points are repeated but I had already written my report on Saturday put could not post it earlier and now too lazy to modify.Firstly, my thanks to Ganesh for squeezing in this extra drive at the last minute.
10 cars in and 10 cars out safely.
Keep up the spirit buddy and never change the attitude.
Thanks guys, see you all soon.

Above reports abbreviated for brevity
Way to go Zarir π good report job very thoroughly and thoughtfully put together :ymapplause:
Very good comment Iqsaan, respect brother :ymapplause:Out in the sand it’s a different world to the one we inhabit sat reading these words. In front of the screen different emotions, outside opinions sway the psychology of the reader.
In the sand we rely 150% on each other to have a good :drive: ‘Just for Fun’, if the going gets tough or a difficult situation develops we may need all the skill we’ve acquired PLUS that of our buddy’s. It is therefore in everybody’s interests to help each other develop. One valuable way of doing that is passing on what one observes and has learnt when one is placed in a position of responsibility and trust. The reader is at liberty to analyse & digest the observations as they see fit.
If person X is powering up a bowl fighting gravity makes the crossover and suddenly finds that they are 3metres in the air and bad things look inevitable, it’s to late to say maybe I should have listened to what Y observed.
The only pride that can be allowed out in the sand is when we are all at the inflation point with smiles on our faces, and that pride is one of TEAM WORK.
Individuals are never perfect …… Teams can be

Yes !! an improvement note will make a negative effect, =(( Its better to convey the message personally as the messages in the board can be interpreted in such a way that the members may not like it….Moreover if any member having difficulties in some areas of drive … he should not be pointed in the board as it was due to the panic behavior of all human being (forgot the necessary skills)…give some time to improve…if not no promotion :ymdevil:

Thanks for all drivers for their views posted on the drive report, I would like to comment on this, itβs a good thing to discuss but pointing out the weakness & strengths of someoneβs driving skills or behavior is the Lead Marshals part, so leave that to the Marshals to point it out, rest we all are here to enjoy & have fun rather than criticizing or making any kind of comments to anyone.
I hope all will take this in a positive & sportive attitude.quote Amjed:Thanks for all drivers for their views posted on the drive report, I would like to comment on this, itβs a good thing to discuss but pointing out the weakness & strengths of someoneβs driving skills or behavior is the Lead Marshals part, so leave that to the Marshals to point it out, rest we all are here to enjoy & have fun rather than criticizing or making any kind of comments to anyone.

The 2 quotes above are interesting. I’m gonna take a bit of time to examine them π you the reader can either move on to something else or read on …your decision π
A little while ago in a drive report, reporting of a detailed nature were lauded and seemingly encouraged by the Marshall (s) of that drive.
In a previous post I copy pasted 2 quotes; one from a member and one from a Marshall. Both of which seemed to encourage detailed reporting.
It is evident that the experience/weight of a lead Marshall’s thoughts on a drive and it’s participants is a valuable tool for those involved in that particular drive to use in their development analysis of their driving.
I’m assuming of course that every driver wants to improve and gain greater freedom in the sand, that might not be the case however and that raises other interesting fundamentals about the Mission statement of the DO founders ‘JUST FOR FUN’. We must bear in mind that parts of this off-roading we do, could be be termed an extreme sport and therefore certain actions, habits or traits should be encouraged and others discouraged, for the safety of everybody involved.
If one were to take that expression JUST FOR FUN at total face value one could ask the question’ does DO actively encourage it’s members to progress at all? I assume the obvious answer is; “yes of course”, therefore the mechanism of how that is achieved must be examined.
Amjed is correct to point out that a lead Marshall’s report might conceivably include directive information of a formative nature intended to help developing drivers examine their weaknesses . Zarir is correct to point out that we are all mature individuals. There is of course also the question of hierarchy within DO and rules of engagement, to use a military term π There is also the understanding that all the DO activities are lead and participated in voluntarily. Nobody is forcing anybody!!
It could be argued that a sweep sees more of the way that the participants of a drive conduct themselves continuously throughout a drive, than the Lead Marshall out on the sharp end. They, the Lead Marshalls, only really get chance to reflect on an individual performance whilst they are waiting for the convoy to reach them or at designated ‘play’ stops. Perhaps the best drive reports are a combination of Lead Marshalls and sweeps opinion or better still, in an ideal world, that of a Moderator who is uninvolved in the convoy management.
Given that ideal worlds don’t exist, given that DO appears to encourage active dialogue between members of the forums, perhaps guidelines on reporting, from the founders task force, could/should be in place? What is true however is that limiting comment is stultifying and eventually leads to a deterioration in the quality of any exchange.
So guys I’ll leave you with those thoughts, have a great experience with DO, I count myself as a member and am very happy to contribute to the exchange between us all, …… all that are allowed that is π
:))Very nicely crafted Brain :ymapplause: :ymapplause: :ymapplause: and it makes good sense :-BD :-BD :-BD You know what you did? π You took all those who reads, to a very nice sharp bowl, made them to find their own way out by making circles within the bowl. People may exit the bowl through any of its peripheral and those who could make their way out will assume their’s was the best and right exit :)) :)) :))
