GPS CHALLENGE RENDEZVOUS + BBQ AROUND THE FIRE || 5 MAY

    Day and date: Fri 5 MAy
    Drive Type: multiple level drive depending on member/marshal registrations
    Meeting Point: dubai – al ain rd (E66) || MAP LINK || 24°44’38.3″N 55°36’45.8″E
    PLS NOTE THAT THIS IS NOT THE USUAL AL FAQAA MEETING POINT, SO MAKE SURE TO FOLLOW THE COORDINATES ABOVE.

    Meeting Time: 2:15 pm
    Drive Start: 2:45 pm
    Drive End: ~6:00 pm

    Drive Route: from al faqaa heading west until we rendezvous with the gps challenge teams at their finish line
    Drive Terrain: soft sands and sabkhas, medium technical and large dunes

    WE WILL BE MEETING UP WITH THE GPS CHALLENGE TEAMS AROUND THE FIRE IN ONE OF THE SABKHAS OF AL FAQAA, SO PLEASE BRING YOUR FAVORITE BBQs AND COOLERS ALONG WITH A BUNCH OF FIREWOOD.


    DO MARSHALS RESERVE THE RIGHT TO DENY PARTICIPATION OF ANY ILL-EQUIPPED OR UNSUITABLE VEHICLE!
    PLEASE BE THERE ON TIME! MEETING POINT IS AT LEAST 1:00HRS AWAY FROM DUBAI, SO PLEASE PLAN ACCORDINGLY
    A FULL TANK OF FUEL IS A MUST!
    IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT YOU CARRY A COMPATIBLE RADIO TUNED TO DO FREQUENCIES FOUND HERE (RADIO FREQUENCIES) PLEASE READ YOUR OWNERS MANUAL AND GET ACQUAINTED WITH THE VARIOUS FUNCTIONS OF THE DEVICE AND MOST IMPORTANTLY HOW TO MANUALLY INPUT A FREQUENCY!! ANYONE WITHOUT A PROPERLY CONFIGURED RADIO, WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO JOIN THE DRIVE, FOR SAFETY REASONS!

    Checklist:
    a) Keep your emergency contact info at vehicle dashboard.
    b) Carry air compressor with you and ensure it’s in working condition.
    c) Ensure your 4×4 vehicle is in perfect condition and with enough fuel.
    d) Compatible Radio is a must.
    e) Carry all necessary off-road gear / recovery equipment in good working condition.
    f) Carry enough water / refreshments / re-hydration drinks for self & co-passenger(s).

    Hey Jo, would be happy to stay on BBQ, just need to sort couple things before. I know its hard to predict, but what time we planing to finish drive and is the any dedicated BBQ spot for this day? Thanks

    drive ends at 6pm where we will meet up with the GPS challenge teams in al faqaa. BBQ spot is not close to main road however its easily accessible via sabkha, so driving out after dark will not be an issue at all.

    Same for me – I can join for the drive but not BBQ… Would it be possible to leave after the drive not staying for BBQ? I saw a comment above that “BBQ spot is not close to main road”.

    there will be a convoy to escort out all those who dont wish to stay back for bbq. No worries. There wont be any dunes on our way either so it will be smooth drive out.

    heres the closest gate to our BBQ spot for whoever wishes to enter/exit by end of drive…… BBQ GATE

    Ur more than welcome to join this drive… all u have to do is press the (im in) green button once only, to register. Ur name will appear thereafter in the reg list.

    hi Guys,

    can we leave after 6 PM or desert drive? because i don’t have BBQ equipment so i can i skip BBQ plan?
