View Map:- http://goo.gl/maps/X1rUsIt was a new concept to divide in short convoys and explore the long route with the provided GPS coordinates :-BD Very nice concept to the senior members and majors to gain valuable experience in leading convoys :ymapplause: Special appreciation to Chief and Tushar for the accurate planning and execution \M/ \M/ \M/ :ymapplause: :ymapplause: :ymapplause:
1st convoy departed from the deflation point with Chief at lead followed by Rahul, Krishnan and Gerry at sweep. 2nd convoy was heavy duties, mighty PATROLers!!! who else it can be :-\ Winchman and myself…. ๐ and I was kept at sweep through out the drive by the lead ๐ 3rd convoy started with Ashok at lead, followed by Syed Bhai and Ronin at sweep. We had a recovery and rescue team comprising SIR and Imran but they were in race with the convoys to be at the lead always :)) :)) :))
Hey… it was my pleasure to meet you Imran ๐ Welcome back buddy :ymhug: look forward to break the crests with you :-w
Rob proved to be a responsible and careful lead and therefore it was a relaxing drive for me :ymapplause: But we were driving quite fast to finish the drive ASAP. Rob might have thought that I am checking his driving and lead skills, hence in return he started testing my rescue and recovery skills :p Hope he tested me to the core on this aspect and I am now waiting for the results :-ss Also we tested the new viking ropes provided by Faujee to the max – Patrol vs Patrol and the rope survived – Quality Approved :-BD
We were the first to reach the tarmac, crossed E66 and reached ADNOC Al Faqqa by 13:55 Hrs. Inflated and took a much deserved break after 73 kms of non stop drive. After about 1/2 hour, we were joined by Ashok and Thanseer. Confirmed over phone everything is OK with Tushar and Gerry and headed home.
Altogether it was a very nice drive and Rob, you did a wonderful job at lead :ymapplause: :ymapplause: :ymapplause:
Lets get ready for the work and see you all again very soon in sands ๐ :-w
quote GKumar:Altogether it was a very nice drive and Rob, you did a wonderful job at lead :ymapplause: :ymapplause: :ymapplause:\:D/ Thanks G.
It was a very nice drive, Newbee drive for Kumar and Exporation for me. Both, for leading and terrain….
It was much, much, BUT MUCH!!! nicer that long convoys. Many small groups are much better. I know that 2 cars is not an ideal convoy for safety reasons, but with many teams in the same area, works perfect. I liked this format. :thanks: a lot for a nice drive.Thanks G! Yes…I was testing your rescues skills and I wanted also to test my new rope! ๐
It was really a great idea to organize an event in such a way where every one got a chance to lead. New leaders came to know where they stand and what was their leading skill level.
I was in the last convoy.Ashok was leading and Tushar was on sweep.Everything was fine and Ashok really did well.Just few stuck which were recovered quickly.
Amazing thing was my two wheel drive which was red handed caught by Tushar.I first time drove wrangler on two wheels and I got more than what I was expecting.Anyhow after some time Ashok asked me to lead the convoy.On the way, we saw Rob. and GKumar doing some experiments on the top of a dune (hehehe). Honestly speaking I am not satisfied with my performance of that day. I did few crests and technical curves. I have a lame excuse and justification. I just tried to achieve the same level what was posted on the thread for this event.
Simply it was intermediate ++.
It was great effort of Tushar to organize such event which was completed very successfully.I will request the marshals to arrange such drives for their senior members in same formation.Great thanks to Tushar,Chief and all those who organize this drive.
See you soon in the sand. -
