Although I am not listing my name on the GNFD Convoy list (* see reason below) but will be there… My details are:

* Reason: I have to start early and finish ASAP (or come out in between); go home or near Sevens; pick up family; and return to campsite by 5:30 pm max…
I will be driving my Jeep Wrangler Unlimited – Flame Red color with a big flag

Meeting Point:- Emarat Petrol Station, after Dubai Outlet Mall on Dubai – Alain Motorway

Day & Time:- Friday, 11th January 2013, 06:00 AM
Radio Channel:- Channel 6, Frequency:- 462.6875[color=#FF0000]All participants are requested to reach the meeting point in time, top up fuel and the DO convoy shall proceed together to GNFD starting point at The Sevens for checkin.[/color] (There may be rush at Emarat petrol station. Hence it will be apt to fill fuel at any other nearest petrol station on the way to the meeting point. If there is huge rush at Emarat, do not enter the petrol station, instead park your car at a safe point near to Emarat, with your radio switched on to channel 6)
General Guidelines:-
1) Bring the “Disclaimer Form” (provided in the welcome kit) duly filled in.
2) Keep the payment receipts of Fun Drive Registration and subsequent addition of passengers (if applicable)
3) Have the GNFD number stickers fixed at rear quarter window shields of your 4 x 4.
4) It is highly desired for all participants to have a fully charged Offroad Walkie Talkie tuned to Channel 6. Please refer these posts for more details:- Radio / Walky Talky – FAQ & How to program Radio / Walky Talky
5) Rated quality tow rope / recovery rope and shackles. Ensure the tow points of your car are intact (both front and rear)We are organizing DO stickers and flags for quick and easy identification of DO convoy vehicles. Therefore please have with you a proper flag pole.
On reaching the starting point – The Sevens:-
1) Follow the DO lead marshal to the parking area at the starting point.
2) Go to the GNFD Disclaimer checking station and get your Disclaimer Form signed by the checking personnel.
3) Proceed to check-in kiosk and submit the disclaimer form and collect the following:- a) Food Vouchers (Fri. Breakfast, Fri. Dinner, Sat.Breakfast) b) Lunch box voucher c) Goody bag and water voucher (1 per car) d) Route notes pack e) Certificate for route completion.
4) Enjoy your breakfast, collect the goody bag, lunch box and water pack.
5) Return to your car, deflate (15 psi) and get ready for departure.Special Instructions:-
a) No dogs allowed on the Fun Drive.
b) Stay on Fun Drive route – no deviations in the dunes or on gravel plains & sabkhas
c) Do no throw litter out of your car, use the trash bags provided in goody kit.
d) Avoid driving over bushes and grass patches
e) Do no scare the animals.Fuel:-
a) GNFD route is 198 kilometers from the starting point upto the campsite.
b) Nearest petrol station is 29kms from the campsite.
c) Most 4 x4 vehicles can achieve the total distance of 226Kms on one full tank of fuel. (Carry spare fuel, if you feel its required. Ensure fuel container is very tightly secured during the drive to avoid spillage which can turn risky)
d) There is no refueling facility at the campsite and the only option during the drive is at Al Faqqa (check point No:7) – 127 kms far from the starting point.Hope the above will answer most of the queries. In case I missed to address any, please feel free to ask ๐

I still recommend everyone to reach the Emarat petrol station before 6am and we all should leave Emarat by 6am….as we would need time to register at the counter, collect all the vouchers, have breakfast….then leave…as the drive is to start by 7.30am….I will be at the point by 5.45am for sure….Lets make this drive a drive to remember…..

There may be rush at Emarat petrol station, our meeting point. Hence it will be apt to fill fuel at any other nearest petrol station on the way to the meeting point.
If there is huge rush at Emarat, do not enter the petrol station. Instead park your car at a safe point near to Emarat, with your radio switched on to channel 6. Please make a note of my mobile 050-4870406.

Dear Shabeer, there is no issue in taking people with you….and for Juma Prayers we will defenitely take a halt where you can have ur prayers and then lunch too…
