I would like to propose to our Marshals to include as a permanent activity during our drives a 10 minutes desert cleaning. How? We all carry trash bags (and working gloves) and when we see a big mess as we always do, stop for 10 minutes and clean…We all love the desert, so let’s help keeping it clean.

I have been going to the UAE deserts for the last 15 years or so and have slowly seen the beauty and the ecological balance degenerate for the worse…
The various Municipalities are able to exercise some control over the various farms and deser safari camps, but the worst offenders are the weekend campers and drivers who litter and leave the desert in such a mess…as if they were in their mother in laws house !!!
Sadly these ignorant, uneducated masses do not realize that if this continues…the whole desert will be a trash dump or the authorities will start imposing very strict terms for access to the sands…
It may thus very well happen that we may not have a desert to go to…to drive in, or camp or have BBQ or movie night or just to have fun :(( :(( :((
That will be a very sad day…indeed…we will then have to rename ourselves…To Dubai On Roaders ๐ฎ ๐ฎ ๐ฎquote Ahmed Pervez:quote desert knight:done …… mr robinson will should all carry a bag to help keep our desert clean …. so we can drive all over it ……lol……This is actually a very valid point raised by Robinson and is not a laughing matter at all ๐

As this excellent suggestion came from Mr. Robinson, It is only apt that he should be designated the head of this mission.
He could thus supervise these operations and/or designate other responsible persons to supervise in his absence.OK then…with the authority just given to me by our founder, I will lead the team on the cleaning efforts or designate someone in case I am not there. So…since I am not 100% sure I will be on Friday’s afternoon drive, I will delegate this to my friend Gerry Pinto ๐
February 22, 2012 at 7:51 pm #15820An excellent initiative indeed!
It doesn’t have to be difficult or arduous either, just spend a few minutes when we stop for breakfast/coffee/whatever, and pick up some garbage in the vicinity.
And, of course, NEVER throw/leave any garbage when out there!February 25, 2012 at 5:23 pm #15869:ymapplause: :ymapplause: :ymapplause: Great Initiative !!! ๐
