    Ladies and Gentleman,

comming Weekend we are planning to hit over to Liwa. Preferable we will take only a easy ride inside the sand and set up the camp, as we have a small kid (Noa 1/2 year) and 2 dogs with us. For the camp I’ll organize some firewood for a nice bonefire and some charcoals for the BBQ.
Currently none of us is familar with the Liwa region. Anyone is welcome to join, and we would be glad if someone experinced would join for our trip, too.

    Currently in:

    1. Jens and Manuela (Wrangler)
    2. Sebastian, Johanna, Nils + 2 Dogs (Chevrolet Thaode)
    3. Kristina (long Pajero)
    4. Alex and Isabel (Pathifinder)
    5. Wayne, Shannen and Brute (Landcuiser)
    6. Hugh
    7. Benedikt and Benjamin (Wranger)
    8.
    9.

    Sure,

we are currently planning to leave Dubai around 11 am on Friday from the Greens (Emaar business Park) and return on Sunday.
On the way to Liwa we will pass by the automible museum, an intersting one, as I’ve been told.

    @dessertdude
Regarding the GPS, if Jessil joins, I guess he got a ‘fully loaded’ one. I’ll be in touch regarding the GPS

    regards Alex

    Guys.

Going on any trip to Liwa is to be done with extreme care as there is drilling ongoing over there for a highly toxic gas.

There should be signposts around to this effect. Take car not to drive anywhere near a drilling location or down wind of the same.

    Couple of questions:
    1. Who is leading, and
    2. What are the waypoints so I can input them before the weekend.

Also, anyone know where this “stinky: gas exploration is? GPS wise

    :thanks:

    Hi Hugh,

I guess you are the most experienced inn, therefore it would be a pleassure if you could lead.

The only thing I got on information of the area is the UAE offroad book and map and a gps track inputdata sent to me by Ahmed for the route Car museum – Al Quaa – Al Ain which may be a interessting drive to beef up the way back (thanks to Ahmed)

On the way to Liwa we have plenty of stuff in the car (fire wood, Beer, charcoals, more Beer, Food, some Weiss Bier, …) while we can leave the camp on saturday and are ’empty’ on the way home.

On Friday we will be in Liwa by late afternoon, get off from the road, look for some quiet place for the camp and set up. Once we are done, we may bash into the dunes for some fun before we light the fire.

P.S. Any more information about the gas ? I couldn’t find any.
