Camping trip to Liwa 2-4th of December ‘2009.
We will be doing some out of way, extremely challenging terrain.
Please note that this will be an advanced/ severe trip & hence will be by invitation only.We will depart from Dubai on Wednesday the 2nd of December morning & will be back in Dubai only by late evening on Friday the 4th of December.
This will be a long drive & very demanding both from the driver’s as well as the vehicle’s perspective, please make sure that your vehicle is properly maintained & the complete recovery kit is available.
We will have to be self sufficient on food/ water/ supplies front.
Each vehicle would need to carry an ice box to hold food, water etc.
The convoy will detour through a service station every evening, prior to camping, to re-fuel & replenish the supplies.Please register your names on the forum,
you will receive a confirmation call/ SMS on the meeting point & timing.OKAY GUYS…LET’S GO OUT & HAVE SOME FUN.

Come on start registering for the trip so then Mr. Ahmed could start planning the route accordingly.Guys if a large and decent number of members with capable vehicles register then it would be formidable trip.

Thanks a lot Pervez Bhai for posting this trip on my behalf as i was away from Internet for the past few days. Here are the trip details:
Destination : a mix of routes in the Empty Quarter (popularly called Liwa by we offroaders)
Trip starts on: December 02, 2009, Morning
Camping days: 2
Trip ends on : December 04, Noon timeLevel and skill required: Intermediate to Advance. Newbies and Fewbies not encouraged to join
Minimum number of vehicles: 5
Maximum number of vehicles: 8
Families / Children : Welcome but not advisable to bring small childrenNo need to put your name on this page. If you are interested in joining this expedition, you may send a PM or email to Ahmed Pervez, who will confirm your participation directly to you.Exact time and place for reporting shall be given to all confirmed participants on December 01.
This participation invitation is meant only meant for the confirmed participants. Please DO NOT pass it on to your friends or other members of the Club. Gate Crashers are not welcome for this type of serious expedition. Your fiends are welcome to be a passenger in your vehicle and help us 😕 in recoveries.
Since the maximum number of cars for the trip have to be restricted, please put your name for participation only if you are 100% sure of attending it.
While all standard recovery kit is mandatory, all participating members are required to necessarily carry the following. Please remember NO KIT – NO TRIP:
– Rated Tow rope and 4 shackles
– Radio with ample number of spare batteries
– One jerry can of 20 litres for spare fuel if your car has a sub-tank, else you need to carry 2 jerry cans
– One pack of appropriate coolant for your car
– Tyre repair kit
– Air compressor
– FlagThis expedition will be quite demanding for the car as well as the driver. Please make sure that your car is in good shape.
A special note for Newbies and Fewbies: Please don”t loose heart. we will soon have a special trip in the Empty quarter appropriate :drive: for you to join. That trip will be a family oriented trip and shall have lot of scope for fun and frolic :ymparty:

So friends, the departure time from the Dubai meeting point is 9AM and from the AD meeting point is 9-45 AM. Pervez bhai is sending the location of the meeting point to all confirmed participants. in case you arrive after we have left, please call me or Ahmed Pervez for directions
Please do not forget the mendatory recovery and support gear (as listed above in this thread) and ample amount of food, drinks and other provisions. Please note that we may not come out for refuel in the evening. the first refueling stop may therefore be in teh afternoon of day 2.
Please do keep some firewood also in your car
It seems that this trip is shaping up nicely and ALAS! I am not there.
Well will try to be there before the season closes and will try to join you guys for one long LIWA trip the least.
It sounds to be a full three days trip what else one could wish for????
Guys prepare yourself with enough supplies and warm beddings too.
A small suggestion to the trip organizers please keep the trip as much off road as possible.
Depute at least two vehicles to carry more then enough wood.
Others shall share their luggage as it makes the comvoy more organised.
I hope that some of you would remember that we used to have one vehicle carrying the big ice box with the drinks and water,one other vehicle carrying all the cooked foood and one or two vehicles would carry all the wood this way things are more organized and stream lined as its a long trip so please every participating member shall volunteer for certain responsibilities.
