Dune racing at Liwa Festival.
The Moreeb Dune towered over the camp at the UAE Desert Challenge.
Anyone who followed our coverage of the 2008 UAE Desert Challenge will be familiar with the Moreeb Hill sand dune.
It’s a big one. And one that adrenaline junkies get a big kick out of scaling on all sorts of motorised vehicles.
Those particularly serious about tackling this 300m long sandy slope, with a gradient approaching 50 percent, will make up the star attractions at the Liwa Festival 2009, taking place at the Moreeb Dune, deep in the UAE Empty Quarter.
The festival starts on 25 January 2009, and features shooting as well as camel, horse and falcon racing before the dune-tackling starts on 29 January with the motorbikes, and the cars the following day.
