There is apparently some confusion & ambiguity on the process of selecting a Marshal,
I will try to explain a few major points, for everybody”s benefit,
Especially those aspiring to be one soon…The objective would be to let one of these Marshal’s lead a convoy, into the unknown,
let every body have a good time & bring them all back safely & on schedule.
Starts with one’s own physical & psychological preparedness,
leadership, navigation, rescue capabilities, ability to respond to emergencies. The salient points in my order of preference would be…
a. Leadership & PR Management
b. Adventure Quotient
c. Driving ability & confidence
d. Knowledge of route & topology
e. Rescue Techniques & ability
f. Basic technical & mechanical knowledge of vehicles
g. GPS rating
h. Equipment availability & knowledge of how to use it
i. First Aid equipment & usage knowledge
j. Experience in organizing & leading tripsIf you would notice driving is still at a third place,
so just being a very good driver, does not automatically qualify one to be a Marshal,
as in most facets of life Communication & ability to inspire one’s group is of utmost importance…These are ten points, and ideally an individual should be judged by at least three people, if not five,
on each point on a rating of one to ten,
each aspirant would have to qualify with at least 3 points on each individual skill,
then score a minimum total of fifty overall to qualify as a Marshal. So Now, the cat is out of the bag…let’s all go for it… :yahoo:

Meoff does not believe in pretentious designations, or you too may have a title like Supreme Marshal… :bounce:LOL …. Ahmed Bhai I would like to enroll myself for Marshal Training ๐ We should start training sessions for our Offroaders to become Marshalls ….. what do you say? These trips should be only for those who are potential and wants to be trained as Marshalls.
We already have few experienced Marshalls like yourself, Saad Bhai and Sikandar Bhai who can teach us.
June 25, 2008 at 8:00 am #4917EVERYBODY…All the members are potential Marshals,
There is a constant appraisal on all the trips, there are no specific trips,
Once other Marshals approve of your skill level at a minimum passing grade…you too Join their ranks :bounce:
So the trick is to participate in the trips & demonstate your leadership & associated skills…
We already have a few regulars…who are almost there… :yesss:quote Ahmed Pervez:EVERYBODY…All the members are potential Marshals,

don’t worry brother its just precaution >>>>>> you have nothing like stress ppls like ali cannot take stress
if any of our senior memebers .. asking them self why they are not marshall yet… please read the forum…
n if you think you are eligible for being a marshall and having all said qualities then you can nominate yourself for a marshall, which will studied by the senior managment of the club…
n honestly… speaking.. we need more marshall’s…. and we are here to support everyone…
Damn this… I can’t wait to put a Marshall sticker on my forehead… but alas… still have a long way to go… still learning from my gurus…
In the meantime, will try and contribute in other menial ways as much as I can…
I guess a rose by any other name would smell as sweet… so personally, it doesn’t matter what name/designation one has… as the motto says… Just for Fun…
Anyway, thanks for the pointers Ahmed Bhai :thanks:
