you will certainly get an abs/brake warning lights! it might register in ecu as fault too…
but once u switch off the cutoff and after switching car off and on again the lights will go out and abs function resumes as normal.but i do advise u do more reading on this as u suggested to be clear and certain!
cheers
quote Gallo:quote joe.zeinoun:i think the gen 4 pajeros have limitations with abs and traction control, which tend to kick in on uneven terrain applying brake to any wheel thats slipping! this will automatically put more strain on the auto trans and engine causing the vehicle to lose momentum quickly…The strange thing is that the same feeling of loosing power I have with the low range.
Shouln’t the low range automatically deactivate traction control?
@Alex, let me know what your solution was.in low range the traction control should be automatically overridden !
but the loss of power you are experiencing particularly in second gear LLC is due to the activation of centre diff lock!
on pajeros this is default in low range and will split power distribution 50/50 between front and rear wheels.now as the front wheels are forced to drive at the same speed as the back ones and whenever the vehicle encounters heavier sand surface up front, more resistance will be created upon those wheels! and instead of having a free centre diff to momentarily redirect power to back wheels, the front will now have to dig and spin through this heavy sand requiring more power ad torque from the engine!
otherwise whenever the center diff is open the power will be redirected briefly to the back wheels which helps in maintaining a higher overall RPM and engine power!
hope that wasnt too complicated for you guys 🙂

I will search someone who done it on russians Pajero forums or some else! Actually i found there many things, but its like a mess of comments and sometimes so hard to find right information! Also russians 4×4 pajero forums do not have good experience for desert off-road customising …
But i will write here my conclusion about ABS!
Thanks Joe for your advices! appreciate itquote joe.zeinoun:my 3L is stock!! no mods except for a k&n air filter….
most of my modifications are on drivetrain and suspension, where i managed to attain increased ground clearance, torque, traction and suspension flex…PLS BE SAFE!
wish u best of luckRespect!
Regards to the OP I am not a fan of the 6g72 engine as I have blown 3 of them, they have thin heads, generally chew a lot of juice and don’t make any power. If some one tells me they want to buy a paj I normally say try and find a 3.5 (6g74 engine is much better). But the catch is the 3.0 paj’s are often much cheaper and make a great value for cash offroader and are generally pretty reliable besides the engine being a little weak.
The issue on the rear is the back bumper can turn into a “scoop”. If you just rivet in a sheet of something to the back bumper and go under the fuel tank it helps a lot. For the front a little trimming in fine. 50mm lift is generally a good upgrade depending on the brand.
Good luck with it!
March 23, 2016 at 5:34 am #35472I just finished with my official service and last two engine oil services done at Adnoc, another things at some Sharjah workshops, but was not happy at all! Some small things trying to do my self!

Thanks Joe for your advices! appreciate itI am very glad to join in this group as I am one of the owner of Paj 3.8 Gls 2008. If you want to cut off all the safety features such as ABS, TC, ASC etc., while hitting dunes I would suggest you to pull a connector which is connected to the ABS pump. You will see the difference, but make sure that you will reconnect the cable once you finished your off-road driving.
May 16, 2016 at 8:50 am #35881Before i put a relay on ABS fuser, i disconnected big fuser (that one which is close to battery – 40A) by removing one small bolt and disconnecting wire, it so easy, y will see it directly under this fuser, it will take y 30 seconds to do that.
Hi guys,
Sorry to bring an old thread back to life but conversation here is quite relevant to the question I have which is… I bought a 2009 Pajero 3L SWB over the weekend with 125km on the clock. The car is neat and clean and has full Al Habtoor’s service history. It drives great as well except while driving on the road, it feels heavy and underpowered. Previously, I have driven an Armada, Grand Cherokee as well as Xterra and compared to all the cars I am finding this car have the least power especially when I compare the body weight ratio to engine size/bhp. Do other Pajero owners feel the same way or is there something I need to get checked?
The second question I have is around the factory fitted bash plate. I read few posts where members have been driving their factory stock Pajero and didn’t have to make any mods but wondering is the factory fitted bash plate is good and reliable enough to take the beating in the sand? As it wasn’t the case with my Xterra and over a period of time the radiator was pushed up a bit.
Thanks,
AdnanMay 21, 2017 at 5:09 am #39181Hey there! First- its good car, but engine is disaster and gearbox with shifting gears itself! I was driving this car for one year full stock but Skidplate/bashplate is must, car is ok with newbie, feeble and a bit inter level, but in inter level u will see limits of the car!
@SandDragon I do really find @alex have given the best advice for the car since its 3.0l i do believe in keeping this car as house car note also spear parts is expensive and any modification will be spent on it not worth it at as in resell it might not support the car trends
