Good point about the Oman car insurance. I’ll ask one of my arabic speaking colleagues to decipher my insurance policy ๐Who are you insured with? They will have a better idea. Axa usually provides oman coverage as part of the package.
Insurance is with Al Ain Ahlia so not sure what’s included and what not. Probably should have found that out before I purchased the insurance :-\
But I insured the car at the registration office and they were the only company not trying to rip me off. Others were asking 5000AED X(quote Chris:quote j3r3miah:quote Chris:I’m in.

Yes…. because my UAE drivers license was only 1 day old. When I told them I had been driving in the netherlands for well over 10 years and a rental car in the UAE for 6 weeks they went down to 2500…..
In the end I payed 900. Still too much I think but whatever. So by the time I got a good price I was too pissed off to ask what was part of the policy :ymsick:Latest News:
Trips to Musandam harder with stricter UAE border rules

quote Amjed:Latest News:Trips to Musandam harder with stricter UAE border rules
http://www.thenational.ae/news/uae-news/trips-to-musandam-harder-with-stricter-uae-border-rulesJust to clarify – There use to be an access to Musandam peninsula from UAE via Dibba which doesn’t require border crossing formalities (visa requirements). This access was formally operated by dhow cruises, few hotels and mountaineering folks. This border crossing point was hardly manned by any security forces or police and on producing an official identity card, anybody was granted access for border crossing.
This free access is now restricted and is guarded by special forces. Access is granted only for those having confirmed hotel reservation and the hotel needs to confirm the visitor details in advance to the control point.
However, the new restrictions are not going to affect in anyway DO’s Musandam trip as our planned route is to enter Oman by road through the official border at Ras Al Khaimah – Ras Al Dara / Shaam.
EID holidays are speculated to start from Thursday, 25th October 2012 to Saturday, 27th October 2012. In that case, it may not be feasible to conduct the planned Musandam trip. Therefore the Musandam trip is postponed to January 2013 and the exact dates will be announced later.
