I was driving my Wrangler with some friends @ Badayer and suddenly white smoke start coming out from the base along with some fire, I stopped the car, fire was gone as well as the smoke but some kind of brownish red fluid was coming out, probably the gear oil seal is blown, the moment I start the car again the smoke starts again and the oil starts leaking again,
so finally I left the car on the following co ordinates

called some recovery guys but they are not able to toe it from the desert , all kind of advices and help will be appreciated .

    thanks in advance ๐Ÿ™ ๐Ÿ™

    Dear Faheem,

you definitely had a bad day. AAA and IATC do offroad recovery, but this far more costlier than the regular recovery. So before you avail it, i would suggest, you speak to some wrangler mechanic and take him to the spot during the day, he can probably fix it and refill the oil. if that doesn’t work, call AAA or IATC.

another advice, whenever you or someone else gets into this situation and is forced to leave the car behind, avoid posting its exact location on the forum. all said and done, this is a public forum and in my opinion, you are risking the safety of your valuable that you were forced to leave unguarded.

the price I get from the IATC is 3000 dhs, which I believe is over priced, ๐Ÿ™ ๐Ÿ™ ๐Ÿ™

    any other options or help?

    Faheem,

Has this been done? What is the action plan now..Who are the volunteers..How far is this from the Tarmac as i dont see any coordinates.

My opinion is put your vehicle in neutral and bring it out to the tarmac then you can send this vehicle to garage for repairs.

Pls give me a call and we can figure out something.

    Couple of observations…
White smoke is a result of oil leaking from the crankcase or the sump and spilling onto the hot exhaust where it self ignites due to the heat.
The Jeep might not be fixable in the desert in this situation and will have to be towed back to the nearest tarmac in such a situation.
The nearest Road head is about 2.08 Kms. from the spot where the Jeep is stranded and that is where we will attempt to tow the Jeep by the easiest possible route, through the dunes.
To attempt a recovery the main thing is the time…do not approach the car during the day…10am-4pm being the hottest part of the day..
The best option would be to go there early in the morning before sunrise & get out of the desert before the heat rises.
The second best is to go in the late evening & attempt a night recovery.
Let me know on how would you want to proceed?
