    Dear Members,
Just wanted to request you all – Please go thru the Equipment Needed at different Star Levels. I noticed that there were a few members who were driving without a Flag, which is the most important tool followed by a radio.

These requirements are put in place by the club not because they want us to spend money, instead they are put in place for “OUR SAFETY”. As everyone knows, our loved sport is a dangerous sport… lets do our part in making it safe for ourselves and others as well.

Sorry, I wouldnt want to push people for this but just thought of sharing what I observed during the last drive.

Hope to see you all this weekend for some fun.

    Tc.

Hallo, i am nee in this group and hope you can support me. We like to join your next trip but first I need to prepare the care as per above mentioned checklist.

Where can I buy the items from the checklist and do I need something special? I am driving a Pajero.

    Thanks for your feedback

    Hi Maik,

Welcome to the group. As this is going to be your first drive the 2 most important things required are a radio and a flag/flag pole. Both these items can be purchased from Dragon Mart. At the meeting point (or) after the drive you could check with other members or Marshals in regards to the other equipments required at your stage.

Just my 2 cents….. Its always better to have equipments which are even for the higher grades. You never know when you would require it.

Looking forward to seeing you this weekend.

    Hi Faheem,

I was curious, is it possible to start the drive an hour earlier say? Last week we had such a big group that by the time everyone was ready and the briefs were completed it was around 16:30 that we got in the dunes. Could we meet up for 14:45 with drive start at 15:00? Maybe it is Newbie enthusiasm that I have but when I wake up on Friday morning I pace the house non-stop – checking, double checking my equipment – until I leave for the meeting spot.

Looking forward to seeing everyone and riding together on Friday!!

    Hello,

Iwent to the Dragon Mart today but I didn’t get the required flag. I just found flags for bicycles but I don’t know how to fix on the car. Hope we can join the tour without flag as well. The required radio I’ve got. Regsrding the air compressor I need some more details from the offroad team and hope somebody can assist me for tour tomorrow.

Yesterday’s meeting point at Khatam was around 30 cars. We were quickly split into 3 convoys. The intermediate/advanced was led by a founding member and friend of Ahmad.
The drive started off well and continued at a safe pace throughout the rest of the drive. Over the next 3 hours we covered 37kms. :drive: We hit a few soft patches early on at fossil rock but no real issues. En route we had a pop out that was relatively quickly fixed and a few second attempts and a few more easy recoveries throughout the afternoon. On one occasion we experienced the over tightening of a shackle in a recovery making it hard to loosen – finally with the help of a screw driver problem solved… ๐Ÿ™‚
We passed camel rock and headed towards Al fayer bowl – so unfortunate that people litter so much in such a beautiful area – crossed a couple of roads and took a few tracks to be sure we could pass the pink rock – on the way we passed a Tahoe, out alone who needed guidance to the road ๐Ÿ˜• – as we continued to do a few more dunes near Nazwa we exited and aired up at the petrol station.

Following this weeks drive it is again important to remind members of some key points to ensure safety:
Flag importance (as pointed out by Duli last week)
Convoy discipline – include safe driving distance following an almost near collision. Seeing car behind you and if not stopping to ensure the remainder of the convoy know the route especially in an areas which has been well travelled by other vehicles and convoys. Finally radio use – everyone should not only have but use one if necessary, this is helpful to other convoy members.

Happy driving and stay safe! :thanks:

Thanks for the excellent drive report Philip.
The leader of yesterday;s drive for the advance convoy was Saaduddin Ahmad, or Saad Bhai, in short.
