    Hi Guys,
I am new to the group; just joined. I have a Dodge Ram 1500 and am anxious to get it out in the desert. Before I do though, I would like to ride along with another person as co-pilot/navigation to be able to pick up some pointers. Are there any truck offroaders that would not mind my joining them for this ride? I would really be grateful and appreciate it.
    Sincerely,
    Matt

    Hi Matt,

If you don’t get any offers for this drive as a drive along I would suggest you buy the necessary equipment being a radio, flag, air compressor and tyre deflator and come along next week. All of where to buy this equipment is on the website in countless posts. Just use search topic top right of the page.

On this drive as the start and finish point are different it may be hard to get a ride along seat unless you have a friend in the group.

Thanks Duncan. I appreciate the feedback. I will plan to join and drive myself. I bought the required safetfy equipment so am ready. Looking forward to it. Thank you.

Hi Matt. I drive a Ford F150. I hv registered for the drive but my daughter is not well…. so my attendance is also doubtful. Else I would have loved to have u as my passenger…. Just a suggestion…. I would recommend you join the drive as a participant… this way you would learn lot more compared to being a passenger as you would learn the basics of your car handling and it’s limitations. Even tho we both drive trucks I’m sure the handling and limitations would vary between our trucks…. but I could tell u 1 thing for sure. … driving a truck offroad is a little challenging but once you have a hang on ur beast u will just overcome all the challenges and drive as if your truck is a short wheel base vehicle.

My offer is still open for u to join me if I would be making it. Just watsapp me if u would still like to be my passenger

    Hi Duli,

Thanks for that offer and your advice of just particpating myself. I have all of the gear so I am going to drive myself. I look forward to meeting you all shortly.

    Sincerely,

    Matt

We all met today at the Sharjah – kalba road, a nice change in an often busy area, although today wasnt too busy at all. Despite the summer temperatures a good turnout for two convoys. :ymhug:

The intermediate convoy of seven cars (and consisted of two lady drivers) ๐Ÿ™‚ was led by Duncan, 2nd lead Krister and Joe as sweep.

We had an initial glitch at the first dune but nothing that couldn’t be overcome quickly. ๐Ÿ˜€ A few stucks today and a few second attempts just to remind us what we were up against. We had some good sessions of ridge riding and side sloping as well as a couple of breaks – one at the infamous camel rock (that might have been camel rock 1 or 2). ๐Ÿ˜•

On our way to the exit we had a bit of a quick relax at the faya bowl and then some extra time to swing round a few more dunes before we made it to the Al batayeh- Al faya road in time for sunset and to re inflate.

Thanks everyone for another enjoyable afternoon out… See you all next week :thanks:

Thanks Philip for your timely drive report as always.

It was a good turnout yesterday and we were lucky as the breeze kept things from overheating us and our vehicles.

It was nice to finally meet Richard who Tatiana brought along for a fun filled ride. I hope it lived up to your expectations!!!

We found some new dunes which I have never personally done before where we crossed path with the newbie convoy who I guess had the same idea.

Thanks to all who joined my lead. You guys drove extremely well and it was great to have 2 lady drivers in the lineup which was a first for me.

    Until next time friends…………. :thanks:

I want to thank all you guys at dubai offroaders for the amazing drive. And more than that a bundle of thanks to Asem, Abdulla and Avinash who kept helping me out constantly. All in all, thanks a lot guys for bearing with me and teaching me so much. I hope I get more opportunities to drive with you in the future and learn more so that someday I could be of similar help to someone too.

    Hey Guys & Girls,

I would like to say thanks for a great day. I really had a blast and I think my wife enjoyed a bit too with white knuckles. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ Everyone was very helpful from the get-go and throughout. I was pleasantly surprised at how well organized the ride was: the scheduling on this forum, location coordinates, list of required gear, splitting of convoys based on experience, pre-ride briefings, convoy discipline, radio communication, etc. etc. As a newbee to sand dune offroading I did have a bit a apprehension but that all flew out with the butterflies on my first dune drop :drive: ! I was told by about 4 or 5 people I would lose my bumper…guess what…I lost my bumper. :(( Not only that, I smashed it pretty hard and managed to pop my head light out and tweak my front quarter panel. :ymapplause: Oh, and I guess those side step rails aren’t a good add-on for offroading either. I am hoping the damage is only about AED 3 or 4k but we’ll see. I suppose I could have driven out to the desert, thrown AED 4,000 in a dune or two and then driven home. It would be less of a headache but less fun too! I have already looked into getting an offroad bumper and lift kit for my Ram. In the meantime, I have my wife’s Prado, which should be fun until I get the Ram back in action. I really had a blast and look forward to seeing you all on the next ride.

A special thanks to our Marshal for a great ride and keeping us safe.
A shout out to Abdulla who was a fantastic scout and found great paths for us and always made sure our convoy was in tact
A huge thanks to Asem and Avinash who without them, I would still be singing some prairie songs stuck high up on crested dunes!!

    Have a great week!!

Hi matheww . Prado will be better option as its Toyota . It has better clearance and the same damage if it was to the prado it wouldn’t cost U more than 500 to 600 and as Toyota or Japanese will be more economic offroad and for your dodge try some local garage in sharjah or umm Ramool dubai 4 k is quite a big amount for this damage what U had
