:thanks: Ashok for an exhilarating drive .
:thanks: Kash, Asif , Baher , Carl and others for the wonderful company.Looking forward to next weekend in the sand !!! ๐
Very adventurous drive this time ๐ thanks to Kumar for a great lead and especially for the last part of the drive ๐ thanks to Ganesh for not letting me change of convoy it was worth it this way, tho u had some interesting incidents in the newbie, cant wait for the full report ๐
I agree with you Denis!!
Had great time and I guess the best part of the drive was when we were heading towards the saddle point!!
Thanks Kumar and all others for this trip!quote JustDen:Very adventurous drive this time ๐ thanks to Kumar for a great lead and especially for the last part of the drive ๐ thanks to Ganesh for not letting me change of convoy it was worth it this way, tho u had some interesting incidents in the newbie, cant wait for the full report ๐An awesome turnup of 30+ cars for a Friday afternoon….Great company by all registered members….Special thanks to the sweep team in all the convoys to keep the convoy moving all the time and reach the destination on time…Thank u Matthews and shot gun Paul for all their efforts in rescuing Hotong from the difficult situation at Camel Rock…
Sundar must have got a good training session behind the steering by Paul in handling the dunes while being the second Lead…
Muslim with his AWD Kia was struggling a bit and then broke off his front bumper totally along with his engine cover behind the Fossil Rock…. I STRONGLY recommend both the brothers Faisal Muslim and Hasnain not get their AWD cars to the desert…. We have had experiences with you guys and from now onwards I hope you restrain from these cars in the desert as we do not want our participants to destroy their cars…. Please take care of this point for the future drives….I hope you guys understand the seriousness behind this…
Leo was been shifted from Kuamr’s convoy to mine to experience a bit more driving with the newbees and he was doing well here…. The more you gain experience is better for you to grow up in this business…
After we reached the Camel Rock…everyone wanted to play there for some time and while playing around, Hutong tried to go behind the Camel Rock and then lost control and slided down the dune where he faced the rock in front of him…. It was quite an effort to rescue the car as the front was facing the rock, behind it was a tall dune and the car was in a slant position…..With the help of one Land Cruiser who was just passing by, we pulled him safely from the rear, made the car straight and got him safely out without a single scratch to the car….Special thanks to Paul to take the charge of the steering while rescuing the car….
Then we proceeded towards the Saddle point through the tracks and Sundar got stuck while climbing a soft dune….he had to be pulled off and everyone reached the saddle point where Ashok and Kumar were waiting for us with their respective convoys…..We spent some time watching the hundreds of cars playing around at the saddle point and then decided to move out to the Big Fall with the entire group in a single convoy….
What a sight it was to watch all the cars in a line over the crest of the Big Fall…. Everyone loved the moment and then slowly each car started coming down…. We reached the road, the new bees who didnt have the compressors were taken to the nearest petrol station by Kumar and Ashok for inflating….. rest all inflated their tyres and left back home….
A very good entire day with a couple of very good drives and some great smiling faces at the end of the day….
See you all for yet another thrilling drive maybe in some different area…
Cheers
Thank you Dada for the usual great summary of the event :ymapplause: :ymapplause: :ymapplause:
Thanks to Rakesh, Denis, Himanshu, Thomas, Jason for joining this drive and nice company. Guys, you did a splendid job!!! :ymapplause: :ymapplause: :ymapplause:
Special thanks to Razik for accepting my request to join the convoy for sweep support :ymhug: :ymhug: :ymhug: in absence of Khadi, who was supposed to be the sweep in charge :thanks: Wondering whats happening with Khadi as I could notice him registering for all recent drives, but never turns up and no message as well ๐ฎ ๐ฎ ๐ฎ ๐ ๐ ๐
My convoy was supposed to be fewbees and I am sorry Leo for letting you join the Newbie convoy during mid drive. I noticed you finding it difficult to tackle small dunes of first phase ๐ Dont worry mate, its the learning curve and Iam sure you know your machine capabilities more after the demo from Paul ๐ Iam very happy to know that you did a good job in newbie convoy. Appreciates the support and flexibility of Dada for this mid drive change ๐ :ymhug: :ymhug: :ymhug:
Rest of the drive to Fossil and Camel rocks and later to Saddle Point top was a true fewbee drive and everybody did a good job :ymapplause: :ymapplause: :ymapplause: All challenges thrown to convoy was not only very well received but also executed with perfection. We had a short mid drive briefing before the start of high dunes to saddle point. Everybody received the message very well and it was very evident from the smooth drive to top of saddle point :-BD :-BD :-BD
We joined the waiting intermediate convoy of Ashok at the bottom of saddle point, spend some time watching the stunts of modified power houses – nice free live show at no cost ๐ Later Dada joined us with his newbie convoy and we all headed in a single convoy to Big Fall for a good photo session with all vehicles at the big fall crest. Loved it ๐ก ๐ก ๐ก Desperately waiting for the pictures :-w :-w :-w
Would like to appreciate the convoy support and guidance of sweep in charge Razik :ymapplause: :ymapplause: :ymapplause: Great job buddy. I was quite relaxed at lead as you took the whole convoy management ๐ Hats off to your responsible convoy management – you made sure all cars are there in convoy by contacting each and every person over radio, when we started moving to big fall in a single convoy.
I really enjoyed the company and was a good relaxing drive without any major hassles. Look forward to see you all again at sands very soon :-BD ๐
:thanks: Kumar for the appreciation.
Line up reshuffle, mid drive briefings, steering clear off track hurdles instantly keeping convoy saftety in mind, adjusting pace in real time to name a few skills, were quitely demostrated by yourself in your yet another masterly lead. Enjoyed and learnt great deal driving with you again :thanks:All fellow drivers / friends – you all drove very well with great discipline. :thanks: for your overall support throughout the drive. It was great exchanging views as well during breaks.
Ganesh – thank you for organising the drive & hats off to you for conducting 2 superlative drives during the day from opposite ends of the city.
Thank you seniors for overall support and guidance.
See u all next time to :drive: JUST FOR FUN
What a great afternoon drive!! :ymhug: Thank you Ganesh for leading the newbie convoy through this amazing landscape. This was the best (among the four Iโve completed ๐ ) drive I had so far, touching different landmarks of our desert. I had the first sights of really high dunes, the beauty of the Fossil & Camel Rocks and the surrounding area, descending from the Fall..etc. Thanks for this experience! The route was suitable and manageable for newbies, and let us feel and learn how our car behaves.
As already mentioned above we had a serious stuck at Camel rock, and due to the steep dune, bad angle of the car, and the nearby rocks made the recovery very difficult and time consuming. Our Marshal, the team members, and an outsider helper handled the situation with great skills so the vehicle was recovered without any harm. :yesss: Another learning experience. :ymhug:
The convoy was well organized, everyone following the disciplines, and doing their best to make this drive memorable. It was for me, and for my passenger for sure ๐
Looking forward for the next challenges
:thanks: again and see u soon!
NorbertThanks to Lead Ashok and Sweep Brian, it was a nice drive and I felt the pace was ok given the driver levels of confidence.
Unless anyone has a better idea or reasons why I should not pull my ABS fuse for the next drive, please let me know. I failed to climb the side of a relatively simple dune because of a short lip of another dune that flicked the cabin quickly left then right, which activated the stability control [engine power cuts out and ABS activated], which effectively stalled the car mid stream. Self recovered ok, but that was frustrating and can do without that electronic aide while we are out there,I believe.
