It is with regret that I have to break this news to you that certain members indulging in certain anti social activities, intimidating other members & just generally creating a hostile environment have been barred from the group with immediate effect.
Dubai Offroaders was created solely with the intention to offer an environment where like minded people may go out together & have fun, where everybody is given equal respect & opportunity to experience & learn the great outdoors.
It happened gradually but slowly. Over the years, certain people with ulterior motives infiltrated the group & they tried to usurp even our basic tenet…Just For Fun!!!
They were warned & given ample opportunities to rectify their behaviour & amend their activities but sadly…to no avail.
This is to inform all members & officials that the Chief Marshal has been relieved of his responsibilities & removed along with certain other members with immediate effect.
This is also to inform & reassure all the members that Dubai offroaders has been successfully operating drives & other outdoor fun activities since its inception in April 2008 & we will continue to operate adventure Drives of various levels as usual.
The basic function of Dubai Offroaders is to offer a clean, family friendly environment for members & it is hoped that this recent re-structuring will facilitate our job much better.
We look forward to welcoming you all to many more Adventures with Dubai Offroaders!!!It’s a sad development and I am sure none of us are happy to hear this. However, I guess there was no option left to maintain the spirit of friendship and comradeship. I fully agree with Ahmed bhai that the underlying tenet of “just for fun” should be kept in mind by all of us.
While there is no compulsion for any one of us to be in this or any other club/forum, all of us need to remember that as long as we are in, we need to follow the basic spirit of the club, work towards betterment of the group and not act against it.
January 5, 2013 at 4:40 pm #21380Good evening all
i am realy saded by this news, ,, and as all know i have not been a club member for long, ,, but these must be many other reasons for this developments,
coz the anti social acivity naming is harsh on cheif marshal Ali and others , coz from wat i remeber and know that he and others worked very hard to make the GPS chalange (which was My idea :yesss: ) a sucses and i also saw how hard ali and PR team worked to make the movie nite a sucses too,
these r all social activity which many mambers praised and liked ,
so if there any reason or any other things in play , would be good to be brought to light, and we all be aware of it and know .
in conlution , agian i am not happy to c this in an off road club, wich should be like a family.January 5, 2013 at 7:09 pm #21386I appreciate & understand the member’s concern especially those of Bu Nasser.
As Sand Drivers we have to understand that Driving in Sand is all about taking the path of least resistance, thus avoiding unnecessary conflicts…
This is exactly what has been done…certain activities of a few individuals cannot be allowed to take precedence over our basic values…even if those individuals did some good work for the club in the past.
I am sad to convey that the current action, initiated recently was forced upon us & I would have totally steered clear of this…if at all that was an option.January 5, 2013 at 8:07 pm #21389quote khshareef:Guys,,,,This is a hobby…So Lets follow our logo…Just for fun and Enjoy…:ymapplause: :ymapplause: :ymapplause:
January 6, 2013 at 4:05 am #21391Guys,
What we do is just for fun, but the fun seems to have been sucked out with this recent development. 🙁 What is necessary though is a clear understanding to all members of the reasons why not just one , but 3 brigadiers including our chief and chief of the offroad rescue unit have left/were asked to leave. As Abdullah has written, all members can see what each of them, Ali, Tushar, Sam have done in the past few events alone, and the dedication and committment they have shown to the club. All I can ask the management of Dubai Offroaders is to put everything in the open , so that all members can understand and learn from this experience, rather that simply state just for fun and sweep this under the carpet.
This is the second time a group of marshals has left/been asked to leave in as many years, and I for one would like to know what mistakes were committed to at least have a mechanism to avoid this in the future.
I am proud of being associated with Dubai Offroaders, and this recent development pains me as it does our other members very much. Clarity in understanding would give confidence to all of us in the club and according to me at least is very much the need of the hour. Please disregard my comments, if they are offensive to any one or if I have overstepped my bounds.
January 6, 2013 at 4:59 am #21396Bu Nasser, Gerald Pinto & Rahul…you have known Dubai Offroaders & Ali or me only for a few months…that is why you probably do not know the background…
Ali, our EX-chief Marshal has a habit of trying to form separate groups and this has happened for the 4th time in the past 5 years since he has been driving with us.
It happened in late 2008…then again in March 2009…re-occurred in January 2010…and now…it happened again!!!
I hope you will appreciate that despite these non compliant activities we retained him in the group and he was even promoted to the post of a Chief Marshal and even now we never asked them to leave…they went of their own accord.
I guess you will understand that as a top official one has to conduct oneself with a certain decorum & desist from petty squabbles with other officials & members…which was not happening.
The other group of Anil Berry & Jessil too started driving separately from us due to certain issues with the EX-chief Marshal, they all remain close friends with me personally even now.
The EX-chief Marshal again had an issue with another Senior member & Marshal, Mr. Salim Khan, last week and I supported the then Chief Marshal, against my own personal judgement.
Then again Ali was having certain issues with some other existing officials now…by trying to impose unnecessary controls….editing and deleting other members posts….interfering with the decisions of other senior members….the list just goes on and on…
This is clearly detrimental to the bonhomie of the group.
So…eventually I guess, it is better to go one’s own way…rather than create unnecessary complications.
I wish Ali & his team all the best even though, personally, I would have preferred him and the others to stay & drive with us.January 6, 2013 at 5:45 am #21398quote khshareef:quote rahulmanan2:Thanks for deleting my post…..Rahul,

Gentlemen
I would call this as the saddest day in the history of Offroading. I have had the privilege of being a dedicated memebr of this group from August 2010 although i registered officially in December 2010. Have had the privilege of having followed them, learned from them and they are still close to me although some of them have left the club.
Am penning my personal opinion without prejudice. Having known Ali since 2008 and from the time he was declared as the Cheif Marshall i have known him personally and he has been so dedicated to the members, and to site an incident, on a call he has left even his famnily to come to my house to help me with my patrol. He has helped many others to the best of my knowledge with selfless interest and encouraged juniors to be part of Dubai Offroaders during the worst of the times when the group started splitting. He encouraged them by recognising their talents and with the promotions he made sure he had regrouped the family.
Similarly Sam is very highly professional and has a background known to most of the off roaders. ia have not seen these 2 senior marshalls ever offending any one. Sathwinder has come out to help me when i wanted his help on a technical issue with my GARMIN. what could not be resolved in 6 months he did it in a matter of 10 minutes.
I wonder what must have gone wrong but this is a real loss for the family and request Ahmed to get this resolved soon and hope the entire family gets back together as it was before.
All the best to all and wishing a Happy New Year.
