HI Humayun, ๐
That was “speaking” about the late posted drive request from last Saturday afternoon ๐
Finnaly Denis and Faheem (the die hard) could join and we made a pretty nice drive to Al Faqaa from Badayer.
We finished a bit in the dark (Denis has candles instead of lights 8-}) so it was a bit tricky at the end but we had good fun!Hopefully see you on Friday!! :drive:
Take care Bro!!
Drive Report 10th Jan The Not the GNFD drive report ๐
A good size group meet by the windy road side this morning, enough folks to split into 2 groups Intermediate and Learner: Newbie /Fewbie. It was nice to see the level of commitment.
The following report concerns the Intermediate convoy. Levi and I decided to split the lead and the convoy places were allocated with Faheem as 2nd lead Ole, Saad and Mustapha and either me or Levi as sweep.
We set of in a southerly direction to make the best of some untracked sand behind the farms, skirting the aforementioned enclosures we wound our way through some tedious low switchbacks, taking in our first popout causality of. This was quickly fixed and tyre pressure adjusted to reflect the harder surface of the sand.
Turning north we explored a whole series of bowls, valleys, crests and drops, steadily gaining altitude. The group all performed well, Ole enjoying the space to give his carburettors an airing and Saad using Hummer power to good effect on the climbs.
As the group were all intermediates the speed of the drive was increased to give drivers a chance to test their reaction time and focus. Along with the vehicle speed increasing the wind joined in and we were ploughing along, sand streaming off the crests, making some of the crossovers more exciting than normal ๐ On a couple of occasions mother desert came up and stopped a few in their trax, just to remind us all who is in charge ‘out there’, providing a bit of entertainment for Levi whose was sweep at this stage. With the wind blowing off the loose surface sand it made the side cresting slip faces soft and good traps for popouts for the unwary ๐ฎ and one of our number unfortunately suffered accordingly ๐
Fun was had by all on the eastern flanks of the area 53 bowls and we then turned Northwest toward AL Badyer, stopping briefly to regroup at the tree house before cranking up the pace another notch. A fast trip over mixed terrain took us to the prison walls & provided the last bit of fun, everybody exited safe and sound with all bodywork intact B-)
Many thanks to all the drivers for your companionship this morning, a special mention for Mustaph who I felt challenged the more advanced pace in :drive: style, and a personal thank you to Faheem for a job well done as second lead.
All in all a nice morning JUST FOR FUN OUTING
Waw!!!! ๐ก
Brian report has definitely nothing to add!!
It was a real funny drive and I personaly loved the sand, specially in the first hours, ’cause it was still wet from the last rains and offered an unseen good traction to the wheels!!
Thanks Duncan for organizing, Thanks Brian for your endless help in any situation and thanks to All to enjoy this beatifull drive!!
By the way L-) , I needed 21 cotton buds after the shower to remove the sand from my ears, hahaha =)) =)) =))
See you soon guys!!
