So….the Pathfinder is a bit bigger, but is it good for the offroaders?

Not the new ones, they are bit too heavy . I feel XTerra is more robust and a real offroader. Yet the older generation of Pathfinder are very capables.

XTERRA is a better option. It’s a good family car and very good offroad vehicle.

I second sam’s and ghassan’s comments. The old generation pathfinders are far better on the sand than the new one… However the xterra is a better option than the two of them… More capable, more robust, especially the offroad edition…

In the same vein Khalil…I think the older generation of most cars are better off roaders…more capable as well as more Robust….

Think of it…even Land Cruisers, Nissan Patrols, the old Jeep Cherokee, the pre 2006 Jeep Wrangler, the old defender…even the classic Range Rover…the list just goes on and on…

Apparently all victims of manufacurer’s attempt to civilize the vehicle to make it more comfortable, enhance the looks by providing lower bumpers front and rear as well as use of cheaper and lighter materials to enhance the cost cutting measures…

Thus I own a Land Rover Disco 1 1999 model and I am Happy !!!

I bought an Xterra (as opposed to a Pathfinder) for two reasons, price and off road capabilities. And I am happy enough with it, as it runs ok in the city, and very well off road. I am still a desert driver beginner, but I feel that the more I am out there, the more confident I am that the Xterra will take me where I want to go, and get me un-stuck when necessary.
(Of course, I am also starting to realize that whether you do well in the sand is 70% up to the driver, and 30% up to the vehicle…)
