quote bubban:This brings me to a serious point I thought I would share. Communication during the drives are of utmost importance. It is also important to realise that the radios are there to be primarily used by the Marshals to communicate important information as well as the sweep and second lead to communicate with the Marshal. Of course the other drivers should use the radio in case of emergency or to ask the convoy to slow down or even stop if they see one of their teammates struggling. It is tempting and very natural for many of us, to want to help and give directions to our fellow drivers when they are stuck but it becomes extremely confusing when 3 people are giving directions. In those instances, only the Marshal or sweep should step in and communicate with the person in difficulty and advise the best course of action.
Excellent note, In fact this was forgotten by everyone after starting the drive, Even 1-2 minute long songs can hear through the radio and makes it an “FM Radio”…..But this note will not stop anyone say “Stop” to any driver who is attempting “wrong turn of self recovery” and that becomes a fatal one or causing a potential rollover especially when the lead & sweep is away from them. Once they stopped, they can get guidance from marshal’s.

Thanks David for your valid input, and you are absolutely correct, this is why I included it in my 3rd line of my note “Of course the other drivers should use the radio in case of emergency or to ask the convoy to slow down or even stop if they see one of their teammates struggling” as you correctly pointed out, the Marshall and sweep may not be at the scene when an incident occurs and therefore any intervention from other drivers to prevent an accident from happening is not only welcome but required.
As for the FM radio, maybe we can start making song requests ๐
Alright, so here are my 1000’s :thanks: for this amazing :drive:
So far the best and I enjoyed every single part of the drive –
first part – relaxed driving on smooth small dunes
second part – quite tricky dunes/bowls/crests and a mix of it all – 2 stucks (first one have no idea why it happened, still analyzing) second could have been avoided, if not half a second hesitation I had… didnt want to jump again, so as per instructions I prefered to get stuck ๐ and I’ve learnt that my shackles were unrated, so shopping soon ๐ :thanks: Carl and Amjad!
third part – climbing Ifthar dune – from the “back-side” – felt like a kid ๐
fourth part – return to Tawi Nazwa on a track – cooled down a very bit – but still with a huge smile ๐Learnt many things this time
– how important is chosing the right equipment for emergency/recovery cases
– how important is finding the balance between going fast and risk jumping, or going slow and risk getting stuck
– (for old Jeeps only) overheating comes from over-throttle – finally didint have this issue any more ๐ drove smoother this time, plenty of power even at half throttle ๐
– it’s not the car, nor the driver separately – it’s the tandem – so I’m getting closer to that
– we have a nice chance to drive in this amazing desert and have to keep rolling, so safety is really very important (including safety distance which I’m still having problems with) we saw what happens with those who are not driving safe – the burnt old Patrol lying there… ๐:ymapplause: to everyone and :thanks: for the great company :drive:

Ok, now that you’ve mentioned, I really have no idea where did we land =)) =)) =)) it was a familiar inflating point, so I thought it was Tawi hehe ๐
too much excited ๐
Very happy to know that you all had good & safe fun and enjoyed the drive as well. ๐ ๐ ๐
