I know that Viking ropes are the dogs danglies when it comes to recovery, but what ratings should our recovery equipment have? I just picked up shackles that are rated to 3.25 tonnes… Is that enough?
I know that weight is somewhat irrelevant but I drive an FJ and am usually pulling out Jeeps… So light trucks…

mmmmm…………from experience its us Jeeps rescuing you FJ’s. That is until you learn where the differential lock is !!!!!! =))
That rating should be fine but personally I like to use rope shackles. They are stronger rated and do not present any danger in recovery from flying pieces of metal if one decides to break. The rope shackles are also better from the point of view of preserving tow hooks. Much more forgiving.
